Dow polluted the Tittabawassee River with dioxin. The EPA has said it has some of the highest concentration of dioxin EVER found in the U.S.- about 20 times higher than any other find recorded in the EPA archives.(Chicago Tribune, November 26, 2007 River's dioxin level may be EPA record-high.)

To add insult to injury, Dynegy is planning a lagre coal plant just upstream of current Superfund dioxin cleanup sites. Each day, millions of gallons of waste water from the Dynegy plant will be dumped into the Tittabawassee River about 20 to 25 degrees higher than normal river water. It appears no one has investigated if the higher water temperatures from this plant will cause further release of dioxin and other pollutants stored in the river.
