So what do you do if you bought furniture and it was delivered damaged and they promised to exchange it for undamaged furniture? I have a dining room table and two chairs that have seriously damaged finishes.

Well to make matters worse I just bought a couch there on January 28, 2008. I was told that the item was on backorder and that I would get shipment at the end of March. The best part is that I got a great little phone call from from them today saying "Sorry, we won't be shipping and oh we are keeping your money. If you would like a refund call your Credit Card Bank Account or if you purchased it cash, tough shit.
Feel the love?

OMG - I agree with all of these, I went to the Sepulveda store, and I want to buy several pieces of furniture there, but the manager could not give me a discount, cheap she thinks she owes the store, and is true there furniture sucks, I have 1 dresser from that store, I called them several times to come n fix it, I have to seat bc I got tired of waiting on them.

I bought furniture for my new home last year, bedroom set, couch, kitchen table and chairs.

ok so here is the good part:

You get what you pay for this is not glabmans or ethan allen, its furniture that does the job,I think the quality is fine,it serves a purpose and I havent had any problems. Also,I got financing at zero percent until 2012,thats pretty sweet. Also,I had a slight damage on the bed frame and ended up with a fat discount on the entire set because it turns out was a discontinued style, funny the sales person said it was there #1 style, but whatever,I think it looks great.

the not so good part:

If your planning on having someone hold your hand like a personnal shopper, forget about it,be prepared to have everything measured out and prepared to go in a specific area. There customer service SUCKS.So pray you dont have a problem,I spent many hours trying to resolve an issue was finally issued a credit and ,well I guess I can forget about the credit,oh well.

To the people who lost there jobs that really sucks,if its any consolation ,ALL business is hurting including our own. When are people gonna rise up against these fradulent manipulations of the bankruptcy laws, everone is too busy playing xbox and making excursions to the mall to by more shit we just dont need, people wake up,this country is in serious trouble, our congress is worthless, working only to line their own pockets and screwing US,the tax payers, they continue to sell us down the river,NAFTA,trade with china, exactly who will be left in this country to buy that shit from china if we all lose our jobs?something to think about, all of our jobs are on the chopping block.......revolution?

Some to think about.

be well and good luck

To Luis and Marc:
One thing you might try is to go into the store, ask to speak to the store manager, explain your situation, and ask if you can apply the money you had paid toward furniture that you won't receive onto other in-stock merchandise. Ask firmly but kindly. There is no guarantee this will work, but I think it is worth a try. I would hate to lose my money.

last year i was shopping for my living room furniture. there was many sets i had, but one sales rep i mainly delt with was so so nice. she would show us pictures as she was younger and we would just chat at time and not even buy anything. i felt like she watched out for us. she wold tell us what was worth the money and what really wasnt. then there was a big sale on a nice furniture set. we had our eyes set on another but she informed me that if i take the floor model becuase they were discontinuing it, i wouldnt have to worry about bad delivery. so i took her advice and she made sure that the furniture stayed nicely wrapped. she also told me to call her personal line if anything seemed to be damaged and she would take care of it herself. she really was a kind hearted person. she worked at the one il, and was transfered to another store that was opening and that was in november. then to hear that this business was going out of business is a sham. all around me good business with good people are falling. it even scarry to change jobs becasue of the fear of falling. i feel bad for this lady, she was so nice to use and i wish to help her out however i can. even if if have to get her a job somewhere else i will do it. and my furniture is in the best condition. better than we thought would be for being a floor model. so people dont displeasent to everyone. i know how it is to follow policies. i work at jewel osco and not always can you make everyone happy. some people are just always mad and always think that they are right. and in reality we all know the customer is not always right. i never had a problem with them and if they werent going out of business i would go back for another set. now think about how this hurts everyone else. all the other furniture stores will raise thier prices because the biggest competition is not there anymore. all companies have some kind of bad product. no company sells all perfect products!!! this is done for the ones that want something thats in their spending limit. you pay for what you pick. if you pick a cheaper item then you will get that cheaper item. i got a set that was originally 4,300 dollars. and i got it on sale for 1,300. it has massagers, recliners(all) the love seat is a rocker as well and came with really nice lamps, rug and two end tables and coffee table. i found nothing wrong with it. all works really good. i expected something to go wrong because its a part of buying things. think of a toy, they break as well if not gentally cared for. for the ones that say their furniture just came in and broke, then i understand, but if you stay calm so will the others and someone will try thier best to help you. if you become unpleasent, they will treat you bad. treat others how you will like to be treated. expecially when it comes to something expensive. and for the ones that baught furnite and dont think they will get it cancel the payment threw you bank or credit company. or dispute it. dont go threw the websites it will lead you no were. this happens everyday when a business falls. you have to learn how to take your own actions. or pay 20 dollars to have a session with a lawyer to talk about options. there are many things to do other than morne on what you lost. stand up for yourself!!! so take a deep breath and amagine how you would feel if you had to deal with tons of people yelling at you. and its not wicks that made the furniture, it the companies that they baught the furnite from. not all furniture was labeled "wicks" for brand name. it has another name and it was just purchases at a wicks that sold this furniture for these companies. so find out what company it is from and see if you can solve it with them since they are the creaters of the furniture in the first place. and sorry for all the spelling errors for the ones that like to nip pick on everything because they have nothing else better to do all day, but i am not one to type all day.

Our experience was good. Went on a Saturday with Mother in law to narrow the selection. Sales person spent alot of time with us.
Went back on a Sunday with husband, sales person was not there yet. I wanted to wait, but the floor manager was instant on helping us. Ok. But we wanted the Sales women from Sat to get the commission. HE ACTUALLY ARGUED WITH ME!

WE did purchase on Sunday.. but the invoive started that he was the only sales person(HE DID NOTHING) I called to coplain to mangement-NO response.
Furture was delivered incorrectly. We ordered very sinple finishing, jsut like what was on the floor. Arrive it was laden witgh nailheads all around the bottom on all three piece.

Went back to the store to fix this.... talked to two mangers and we are still awaining the correct order. However, they can not gtd teh the new order will not have nailheads, as the don't know what is in the warehouse.

Wickes called the manufactor and they changed the design, but the store never pulled the old design. We want the one that looked like the floor model we saw.

Got infor about a Debitor of Wickes- anyone know something about this?

ask for the floor model then, and maybe since it is a old design theywill give it to you and in replacement you give back the other one, thats what i wold do at least

My husband and I were victims of this bankruptcy. I just got a letter in the mail from another furniture store, Easy Life in my area offering a discount if we still need furniture. I thought that was pretty cool/nice but am still hesistant because of how horrible my Wickes experience was. I am going to definitely put it on my credit card and insist on fast delivery because we really do still need furniture.

In June 07 I purchased a couch and chair from Wicks, in just a few months it fell apart, I had purchased a 3 year service plan so they just gave me a new one in December. I chose a different set paid cash for the difference and then they charged me another 3 year service plan and Leather protection for $385.91. I have found out they never sent the money to the Service company called 4repairs.net , this company never received any money the service contract they sold for December on, now it is all lost in court. So those people that made a purchased in December and Jan will not be covered. That is stealing and I have filed with the Attorney General in Oregon. I'm sure I will never see my money again. They need to be stopped.

Alright how old are we seriously. I bought from wicks a few months ago and yes their service was bad and the sales people were annoying but that’s the way it is almost everywhere. Just like buying a car….Anyway you get what you pay for there is no such thing as a good deal so if you’re complaining about the service, products and warrantees think to yourself how stupid you are for even complaining when you should have known what you were getting yourself into. I actually made out with the furniture I just bought. I had an easy time talking down the over priced furniture to a good deal and got free delivery next day because I paid in cash. And to they guy who is worried about getting anther job and his wife. Stop drinking, get up and get a job its not that difficult.

Hoping they pull through on this one. Me and my wife have purchased Wickes product for the past several years. Despite a couple of hick-ups here and there no major problems with the company or the products that they sell.
The Hick-ups that we did have were taken care of almost Immediately and we were recouped for our time in one way or another.
Love the company, the sales staff, and the products.
