I'll be glad when all the smoking ban frenzy settles down. That can be next.

Hey if you think that eating overpriced, diseased, almost cancerous liver from a tortured animal is great, that's your problem.

Keep eating the cancerous, diseased livers alderman...as they say, you are what you eat.

I got some city rats to sell you in a nice shallot bordelaise reduction - huge diseased livers too from sipping on the garbage sludge that leaks out of the bags when streets 'n sanitation is changing them.

Now fix our g*ddamn POS city a88holes!

Oh, by the way. Do you eat meat? chicken? liver? fish? pork? All of these products kill animals. Watch a fishing trawler. Does the death they endure, flopping around unilt they are gutted cruel? Look in the miror. YEs, the price of things I need to sustain a family of 5 in todays society weigh on my mind far more that the fate of animals that end up on the shelf.
Over-priced coffee and cruelty to a sentient being to create a tasty and overpriced snack are separate issues.

Let me clarify my position: There's enough wanton cruelty to people and animals in this world already. Do we really need to eat fatted goose liver if it causes so much distress to the animal?

Who says it causes distress? Show the proof. PETA stories don't count.

Oh Bubba, torture? And you too Matthew.
How about the Kosher laws of Muslims and Jews? Both require a "bleeding" of the animal which some would view as gruesome and cruel. Go to Chicago Live Poultry near the corner of Devon & Western to observe it.
Should we deny those Jews and Muslims their religious ritual?
Killing is killing. We do it. We do abortion too.(and I'm OK with that) Matthew, you really can't support any of your rant with substance.
All you have is emotion. You definitely are making a philosophical argument that easily can be compared to religion/abortion.
The fact remains that there is a demand for these fatty livers and it WILL be satisfied.(and we do have a right to do it in the USA)
Vegans, move to another country. Matthew, Bubba, Julie, et al..... You are just a bunch of whining fools that are out of touch with reality.
Animals don't have the same rights as humans and DON'T deserve them either.
We kill them and eat them. No matter the manner, it is still killing.(and it is OK with most of the population)

yeah - the jews and muslims should NOT have that "right"! They are highly disturbed to be able to hurt a poor animal like that!

Out of all the myriad of things to eat in this world - couldn't we do away with this horrific, wanton practice?

Again, what evidence is there that it's "horrific?" Look up that word in the dictionary, do you even know what it means?
