Chipotle Fast Food will be a good fit for this corner. Until recently a company wholly owned by McDonald's Corporation, Chipotle is the cruise ship of the taqueria genre. All the pink tank-top people coming over the hill in their large SUV's with their even larger wheels and tires will finally have a Mexican restaurant to go to that they can understand. One that isn't too challenging, one that speaks Frappuccino.

I'm very excited that this will mean less of a line at Tacos Moreno. Thanks, Mickey D.

Alright!! Another Mexican restaurant....I sure hope they squeeze another coffee shop next to it.

People don't go to Chili's, why would they go here? What next, and Outback Steakhouse on Pacific Ave.??

Oh wait a minute....this is next to the courthouse. The judges and attorneys must be tired of going to Buffalo Wing House or whatever that place is called.
This isn't for us, this is for the people in the that large building full of criminals.....and the ones they prosecute.

What? Now you're against Mexican food, too? Issues. You have issues. BTW, with whom do you hold allegiance - skin head nazis or KKK?

Good article about the company and their stock.
For anyone who is wondering what to do with their money these days, given the awful interest rates at banks, consider investing in stocks. Many are trading at 40-60% less than this time last year. There are so many bargains out there. What to buy? Think POOR PEOPLE and what they still have money to buy - FOOD (breakfast cereal (general mills), macdonalds, coca cola (all of these stocks are great deals right now). I'll check out Chipotle - if their prices are low enough and the service is great, it could be a great investment, for Santa Cruz AND my portfolio

This is good product for a fast-food chain. Good food, quick service. That corner has lain vacant for quite a while now, and it will be good to get something productive in there. And, despite Pat Kittle's weird rant, the courts and county workers need some decent place to eat.

I do wish we had more choices than Chinese food, Mexican food and pizza, though. And no, we don't need more sushi places.

I must say...I am proud of my fellow santa cruz residents in regards to this article. Usually no matter the topic...everyone bashes what was discussed...this time around people seem ok with Chipolte coming to santa cruz. Chipolte go me through college in Southern CA...I am a huge fan, and have driven to Cupertino in the past just for a burrito!

To be honest, Id love to see more places like this in santa cruz. You dont think a few chain like establishments can fix up ocean stree? I do!

Cant wait!

How could I forget! I know how I forgot...this is Santa Cruz and in no way does the City make it easy for a chain to come to town.

Say no to Chipotle - yes to In N Out Burger !!!

Do we really need ANOTHER MEXICAN RESTAURANT!!! I am all for good authentic Mexican food, but a chain restaurant.... Snooozer. Why not bring something interesting to SC. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, we are trying to become main stream "America"... Best Buys, Home Depot, and am sure a Walley World is a commin too. To bad for us.

Of course we don't! We do however need the tax revenue and my guess is that the City turned down several potential companies (possibly even In n Out) who were interested in that spot until they found one that was going to "fit in" better. The buildings that Chipotle are in are non-obtrusive unlike In n Out which are a carnival.

Honestly the space is probably too small for the crowd In n Out would draw and their drive through which Santa Cruz is hugely against anyway.

But really could we not have found something better than Chipotle to fill that space?

Oh well I will continue to go to the local taqueria's except Los Pericos because that place has turned into a filth hole - too bad too.

Can we have a new local bumper sticker?
