Well, I wonder how many little kids will go without food because their parents will just want to hit it big?

I can't wait for the casinos to come to Ohio. Maybe then we can have some headline acts in the showroom and some fine dining.

It would be nice to read articles of how businesses and the State of Ohio are expanding real commerce other than more gambling and more taxes.

Do we really think a mini casino on every streetcorner will create real wealth?

If so, every nation would be an economic powerhouse!

If there's such a big market for gambling, let's quit beating around the bush and make it legal. Or would it be better to build more prisons to house these sinners?

Let's face it, the state is concerned because there is no way to tax these machines. As mentioned, they are not regulated, so the state has no idea how many of these machines are around. Of course, when the casinos open, the casino lobby will start screaming fro regulation and you will start seeing a repeat of the 1920s with gambling, as opposed to liquor.

That's a truly ignorant comment. IF the parents are so inclined, they'd be doing that already with lottery tickets, bingo halls, raffles, greyhound racing, etc.

Fercryingoutloud - get a clue, man!!

Fail. Look at your own words, Rick.

"Well, I wonder how many little kids will go without food because their parents will just want to hit it big?"

IF you were referring to all forms of gambling, you would have said "have gone" instead of "will go." You were clearly talking about slot machines AS IF they are the only form of gambling and that, sir, is sheer ignorance.

dude, a LOT more little kids go hungry because their parents want to buy booze, cigarettes and dope than gamble. i would say we should outlaw booze and cigarettes but drugs are already illegal and it doesnt stop anyone. by the way...i'm curious...what charity do you volunteer at that helps feed neglected children?

I thank you so very much for being smarter than I am, and correction me on the proper words to use in constructing a statement. You probably have more friends than I do too.

You're welcome, Rick. It wasn't about the proper use of the English language - I simply wasn't going to let you weasel out of your ignorant comment. ;)

As for your last sentence, you're probably right on that.:)

"...called the legal debate silly and pointless..."

True. From a rational and practical viewpoint. However, remember that Politicians and politically-motivated-Law Enforcement are not generally "rational and practical"!! Beware the inevitable RAIDS on these parlors...

You have legitimate stats for your statement, I suppose? Oh yeh, I am also pretty sure that 2 wrongs make a right? Believe it or not, legality does stop many a person. And last of all, we personally feed people through the YMCA, our church, and even just on our own. Perhaps the other poster does, too......just a thought.

Slot-like machines are spreading because people want to use them! Also, casinos ARE coming to Ohio, I just hope that, since the people in Franklin county don't want them, there are no casinos or slot-like machines allowed there! Plenty of other cities WANT them, and the MAJORITY voted to allow them!

Daily Horoscope for December 17

Aquarius

Yesterday you had a good control over the workings of your mind, but sadly that isn't the case today. Instead, your thoughts are wandering in every direction except the one you need to concentrate on. The result will be a sense of being disconnected from what's going on around you and possibly even a dreamlike quality to the day. Don't make any decisions while you're like this.
