"The nighttime excursions into the ghoulish park includes a nightly hanging, scream contests, a funeral procession and other Halloween-themed thrills".

How can a whole family enjoy a "nightly hanging"? I do not consider that a Halloween-themed-event, but disgusting desensitizing of children. Oh, lets just string up someone, we all had such fun watching it!

I still enjoy Halloween along with the benign dress-up of children who happily come up to my home to receive a reward.

Do we not experience and denounce the daily crime reports of individuals who were beaten, robbed and shot, etc.?
If anyone does not have that experience in their own city, well, just come to Vallejo's Discovery Kingdom and we will give you "Nightly Hangings" for a fee.

Hangings and executions used to be public spectacles.

http://www.answers.com/topic/hanging

The historical significance of hanging stemmed, in part, from its public display. Hangings in antebellum America were local community events in which residents were taught important societal lessons, including the perils of a life of crime and the power of the authorities. Hangings, however, were not always sanctioned by the state. Lynch mobs enforced extralegal and barbarous death sentences of hanging and mutilation on thousands of African Americans, primarily in the South.

...and your point is? Obviously the important societal lessons have eluded the folks until the present day. Some countries still hang people for their crimes in public, does that mean we should?
We, as a society condem such barbaric behaviour with demonstrations against those regimes, however love this mock spectacle in an Amusement Park in the presence of children?

I am sure the park will be riddled with hoddied trouble makers who will run around terrorizing the patrons. No, this is not part of the act, it is the standard Vallejo trash.

Let's get a couple of things straight. No.1, if you can't parent your children to know the difference between fiction and non-fiction then just stay at home.....always. Stop blaming everyone else and take accountabilty. No.2, Since the days of puplic hangings and other publicly displayed acts of Capitol punishment have ended there has been a steady rise in crime. People do not get it. Maybe it's time to get a good look at that hanging. Take it in. Peace
