The real estate business has always attracted attention and sparked interest among people. Many opt for this job because they are attracted to the idea of flexible working hours, some are lured by the high commissions, while others fantasize about being their own boss. However, being a real estate agent is a demanding job that requires a lot of knowledge and personal involvement. To achieve success in this fierce industry, you need to be self-motivated, driven and focused. Same as with any other profession, to assure professional growth and success, there are certain criteria that need to be met. Here are some of the key steps that will help you become a successful real estate agent.

In order to sell or buy a property, you donít need to study the laws, think about the complexity of the market, understand construction and architecture, or have mastered real estate transactions. All have to do is contact a real estate agent and get all relevant information, in the shortest amount of time. That way you can dedicate yourself to studying the suggested options, which can help you make the right decision. If you want to become a licensed real estate agent, you need some sort of official training or education. In addition to knowing the laws and regulations pertaining to real estate, you also need to be a good manager and a team player. Solly Assa is a New York-based real estate expert with a strong focus on customer service and satisfaction. He has gone a long way since his early beginnings in the industry, and in his experience, it was his strong commitment to success what helped him develop a thriving career. Even after decades of working, Mr. Assa hasnít stopped learning and improving, and neither should you, especially if youíre new to the business. With the real estate market constantly changing, it is essential that you keep up because otherwise you'll be outdated before you even get started. A successful real estate agent keeps current and educates himself on the latest technology trends adapted to the industry.

Like many jobs that require a high degree of social interaction, real estate is best learned by doing, by interacting with as many leads, clients, agents, and brokers as possible. Being involved in the real estate industry requires real commitment and working outside the usual business hours. Despite the fact that technology has enabled fast and easy access to information, outside work remains an inevitable part in the real estate business. It is important that the agent is familiar the area he is working in. A good real estate agent should know everything about the buildings in his area, every piece of land, ownership relations, urban plans, projects under construction, failed projects, potential investors, sellers, etc. One of the reasons why real estate agents are hired in the first place, is because of the amount of information they possess, thanks to their constant work.

Another important reason for hiring a real estate agent is his contacts. Contacts are the very essence of this business. It is extremely important for agents to continually work on developing their own contact networks. The bigger the sphere of influence, the better chances of turning prospects into customers. To expand your business circle you can join a local or federal real estate association, or attend seminars and meetings.

Becoming a successful real estate agent is directly related to the amount of effort you put forth.
1. Evaluate your personality. Real estate business isnít for everyone, and personality traits are as essential as education to any agentís success.
2. Develop good verbal skills. Closing a deal takes the ability to discuss the terms of an agreement in layman-friendly language. Presentations are a major part of life as a real estate agent.
3. Learn the art of negotiation. Effective negotiation requires understanding partiesí needs and wants, staying open to multiple options, anticipating counteroffers and preparing responses in advance.
4. Make continuing education a priority and take technology courses.
5. Prepare to work long days. Real estate agents have unpredictable schedules. Successful real estate agents understand they must be available to their clients at all hours.

There are some great tips in here... we provide seller lead generation solutions, automated marketing services and much more, but at the end of the day, it all comes down to making those calls and nurturing those leads over time.

We review this with agents using offrs.com and put out a lot of documentation, stats and best practices (similar to yours here). Good to see mention continuing education. Great stuff!
