I have read the responses to the last chance highway show and think it is wonderful that so many people care. I can't wait for the show to come back on. I have also tried to adopt a pet off the web site but were unsuccessful in getting the correct email address for Shelly. Please help me with this.

I'd just like to say, it's an honor to be in such great company. There's a whole other world outside what most people see in regards to animals...Those of us who live the "rescue" life see first hand the heartbreak, despair and helpless state thousands and thousands of innocent animals live in daily. While we can not save them all, we try...we never give up, we can't afford too. For every dog or cat living n a loving home there are literally thousands being abandoned, starved, abused and neglected...But those we can save change our lives...forever making us better people and leaving a space which resonates with love and keeps us moving forward. Thank you Animal Planet for making there world see and their silent voices heard! BRAVO!

I had been following the "Help Find Hope" page on Facebook for about a year now without signing up for Facebook. I just like to look and see if Hope has been found yet. Now I cannot look at the page without signing up for Facebook. That screen appears every time. I do not want to join Facebook. I am so disappointed.

Hi Carol..Facebook has updated the format of their group pages...so we had no choice but to convert the page to the new format...sorry you can no longer view it without joining...some of my friends who don't want to get involved in the whole FB "thing" set up a page using an alias...so they don't have to bother with friending etc..but are able to join & view pages..hope that is helpful...

Where is Hope - Thanks, I joined under an alias but told my three best work buddies my alias. I told them it was a secret. If they see it, they'll figure it out anyway. Now I can keep track of Hope!

Let me tell you a little something about Shelly...

She NETS over $100,000 a year running a rescue dog mill. She goes into shelters in the south and buys the dogs "bulk" from them for a couple dollars each. Sometimes they give them to her for free because that is less they have to spend on kill shots. She then takes them to some discount vet who gives them a Frankenstein-like neuter job for $25 a dog and just enough vaccines to be able to ship them across state lines.

I fostered for Shelly. The dogs came in emaciated and visibly sick. One dog shipped up to CT, who obviously needed vet care ASAP, was ignored by Shelly, despite repeated requests. When pushed, she said to transport the dog back to her. I told her the dog wouldn't make it. She said she wouldn't be paying any northern-rate vet bills, period.

We took the dog to the vet ourselves.$3,000 later, he was cured of heart worms, a broken rib and hip, severe malnutrition and dehydration, and a severe infection in his chop-shop neutering incision.(The sutures looked like my 7 year-old daughter did them.)

Before shipping, Shelly spent a total of $67 on vet fees on this dog. She told me the most she ever pays for a shelter dog is $30. He was with her for only a few weeks, so let's say she spent $40 on food for him (which, judging by his painfully gaunt appearance, I highly doubt.) She then spent $150 to transport him from Mississippi to Connecticut. All told, she spent $287 on this and most other dogs she sends out. Shelly, however, charges each adoptive family $450 or more for each dog. That is a net profit of $163/dog.

Shelly also informed me, over the duration of our affiliation of several fosters, that she sends up, on average, 16 dogs a week to the northeast. That would come out to 16 x $163 =$2,608 NET PROFIT PER WEEK, or $135,616 PER YEAR. This does not include all of your generous donations of food, blankets and hard cash, which more than cover all the doggie needs.

She knowingly unloads sick dogs on well-meaning people for profit. She sickens me.
