No wonder West Oaks is in the toilet. That place has been mismanaged since the beginning. They have no rules and regulations regarding behavior or dress that they enforce. Decent people are afraid to go there. Their lack of this was the topic of discussion of the Ocoee City Commission in a meeting with GG execs. They promised action, but nothing ever happened. Bad part is that this mall will now become a slum, attracting the bad element more than it is now.

All those malls were terrible anyways. If they are any example of how GG runs it company then no wonder they are going out of business.

My parents told me West Oaks Mall is about to close. Anyone know if that's true? If it is, people from Ocoee, Clermont, and Winter Garden will have to go to Fashion Square Mall for department stores like it was way back before West Oaks was build.

Wow, is dress code there that bad? I haven't been there for so long ever since I moved away but as far as I remembered (back in 2000-2004) mall was usually a hang out for nearby high schools, probably still is.

Anyway I hope they close it down. I love that place with chicken teryaki with rice is great.$4.50 for a good amount of rice, veggies, and chicken is a great deal! I always go to them everytime I visit.

These malls suck! You need a CWP to feel safe in any of these
You hardly need a CWP to go to the Oviedo mall. Nobody goes there, even the muggers.

Yeah, the Winter Garden Marketplace is right there, maybe ten minutes down the road from the West Oaks.

I don't know if you have been there lately, but Fashion Square is a toilet, and you do need a concealed permit there. Re: kidnapping at beginning of year.
Guess no malls then.

The malls have been in decline for some time now. If you notice most of the new malls that are being built are outdoor malls. Place like the Winter Garden Marketplace, Prime and Premium Outlets by the attractions area are the malls of the future. I would not be surprised if they close the Oviedo Mall completely and redo it into an outdoor type mall. Outdoor malls are much more cost effective for the management company and the tenent. Think about the air conditioning cost alone for a huge enclosed building or individual separate buildings. The Oviedo, Altamonte, Fashion Square and the Seminole Town center are on their way out. All of these malls have multiple vacancies in their malls with tenents that have left and the malls look dead. The only ones left are the Florida Mall (working off of the tourists), the Millenia Mall (working off of the tourists), and the Prime and Premium Outlets (working off of the tourists. Is it not interesting that the most successful malls are in the tourist areas? If they were not there would they be following in the other malls footsteps, I think so.

I hate to reply to you Chester, but how in the world does a mall in the middle of a ghetto (Fashion Square) or a mall built with no foresight into the potential market (Oveido) have to do with George Bush? Is he in charge of business plans for mall development companies now? I will concede Altamonte is a possible result of the recession.

You're an idiot if you think that Audubon Park & Baldwin Park neighborhoods are ghettos.
