Gee, I'm glad we have the Architectural Review Board to watch out for us - were they asleep at the wheel when North Valley Plaza owners decided to rip that mall to pieces and leave it that way? There's still a huge pile of uncovered dirt behind Wendy's, and right now, there's a giant dirt cloud over the intersection of East and Cohasset. All these city/county agencies spending themselves into deficit, and we still don't get any service. Is this what we can expect at Chico Mall for the next 5 years? A giant mess of a construction site, with porta-fence all over the place? Do they even have a real plan, or are they just following trends from other cities?

it's about damn time they upgraded that smelly little mall. bj's resturants are so-so when it comes to food. the beer was never something to write home about but the Pizookies are most excellent.

I've been to the BJ's in Bakersfield and I thought it was a great place... maybe not compared to Sierra Nevada, but for a "chain" it's pretty nice. As for North Valley Plaza, even with a couple of lots still empty, the place is a HUGE improvement over the shell of a mall that was there before. If I remember correctly, the empty lot was supposed to be a grocery store.

So the owners of the mall want to add more retail stores but God forbid if Walmart wants to expand. Where are all of the Chico liberals screeming about the loss of jobs to money grubing corporate chains, the closure of "mom and pop" stores and nightmare traffic? Why aren't they demanding EIP's, filing injunctions and forming neighborhood committees to stop this? Only one reasone that I can see, as long as it's not Walmart it's okay. If Walmart changed it's name, those boneheads would never know.

This sounds wonderful, especially the farmers market. As gas prices rise it would be nice to have something like this in South Chico so area residents don't have to drive downtown to go to a farmers market. In fact I hope they put in some bike racks so that riders have a place to park their bikes. I just wonder if we are going to have to suffer the DBCA and associates cries of "taking away business from downtown" or does that only apply to Walmarts?

We have just arrived in town and went to the Chico Mall yesterday. What improvements have been done in the pasted 4 years since these comments were made? This Mall needs more to offer : Period! Seems this Mall is depressed and the sales associates throughout the Mall are so "Starved" for a sale they make you feel uncomfortable! Very tacky... YIKES! Focous on really re-vamping, bringing in more stores and offering a better food court! This will offer more revenue to this small town..Bring in more business and potential growth too..
