Suggestion. Have the Hotel Workers Union buy the hotel, operate and staff it.
Would they know where to begin? There's much more to it than meet's the eye operating a business, especially a large one...it's easier to scab off of others' success, risks, business ventures - this is how the unions make their living - riding someone else's wave.

News just in that the unions and new owners have reached an agreement. Good for the union workers but for the new owners.
With severe drop in hotel occupancy rates, what is this investment company thinking about????
I was wrong to think finally some smart people will sell the units as time shares.
Might be another Haw'n Telcom fiasco.

I for one am glad to see another tourist hotel shut down. We sell the ILLUSION of Hawaii and call it "aloha." The Hawaii that is advertised is long dead and gone, and Hawaiians haven't been welcomed in Waikiki for decades, except to pick up the garbage. The word is out that Hawaii is overpriced, over-rated, and over developed to the point we resemble an inner-city ghetto more than a tropical paradise. We try to cover it up with a carnival atmosphere in Waikiki, but getting drunk with pretty lights can be done anywhere. Maybe Hawaii can get a rest for awhile, Might even start seeing some locals in Waikiki that don't get chased off.

Interesting point. To a degree, they are exploting, marketing the Hawaiian culture. Only recently were Hawaiians introduced as part of the process. However, the involvement is minimial. You are also dead on with the development aspect. It all boils down to corporate greed and our local "leaders" (i.e., politicians) have defintely lost control of the process. It is sad to see how bad our infrastructure is being managed. Most politicians seem incapable of doing the right thing and making the touch choices. Rather, they are too engrossed with self benefit. The political structure must change and integrity restored. By the time that happens, if ever, it will be too late.

Daily Horoscope for December 21

Cancer

The next four weeks will place a delightful emphasis on your relationships. A wonderful encounter with someone special is in the wind, and there's even a chance you could embark on a new partnership. This is a time for teamwork rather than going it alone, even if it's only a temporary measure.
