Poll: Majority Supports Path to Citizenship for Illegal Immigrants

There are 1475 comments on the KVOR-AM Colorado Springs story from Nov 14, 2012, titled Poll: Majority Supports Path to Citizenship for Illegal Immigrants. In it, KVOR-AM Colorado Springs reports that:

Most Americans support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, an issue that may be high on the agenda of newly re-elected President Obama and the 113th Congress, given the increased importance of nonwhites -- including Hispanic voters -- in the nation's political equation.

Illegal Aliens Receive Billions in IRS Tax Benefits

Friday, 23 Sep 2011 05:17 PM

By James Walsh

On July 7, 2011, the U.S. Department of Treasury's inspector general for tax administration issued a startling report entitled "Individuals Who Are Not Authorized to Work in the United States Were Paid $4.2 Billion in Refundable Credits."

No wonder the nation's finances are in turmoil.

******It is clear that unauthorized aliens are filing ITIN tax returns with fraudulent data.******

The Treasury report found that "One common type of fraudulent refund involves taxpayers fabricating a Wage and Tax Statement (Form W-2) that shows excess withholding and results in a tax refund."

This is dated 2005. I wonder how many "BILLIONS" more has been sent across our Southern border?

Mexico remains the largest recipient of remittances, at over US$20 billion

Source:

Inter-American Development Bank, March 2006

report,“Remittance 2005”.

Mexico remains the largest recipient of remittances, at over US$20 billion, followed by Brazil and Columbia which for the first time reached over US$6 and US$4 billion respectively. Central America and the Dominican Republic combined to reach over US$11 billion; and the Andean countries totaled almost US$9 billion.

http://www.iadb.org/mif/v2/files/guemez_remit...

As much as 50% of remittances are unreported. As published in the Development Prospect Group Briefing #3, "This amount only reflects transfers through official channels. Econometric analysis suggests that unrecorded flows through informal channels may add 50 percent or more to recorded flows. Including these unrecorded flows, the true size of remittances, is larger than foreign direct investment flows and more than twice as large as official aid received by developing countries."

Illegals by Race or Country

Mexico continued to be the leading source country of unauthorized immigration to the United States (see Table 3).

There were 6.6 million unauthorized immigrants from Mexico in 2010, representing 62 percent of the unauthorized population.

The next leading source countries
for unauthorized immigrants in 2010 were El

Salvador
(620,000),

Guatemala (520,000),

Honduras (330,000),

and the Philippines (280,000).

The ten leading countries of origin represented 86 percent of the unauthorized immigrant population in 2010.

The number of Mexican-born unauthorized
immigrants increased by 2.3
million between 2000 and 2007 and
decreased by 340,000 between 2007
and 2010.

Changes in the unauthorized
population were much smaller
during either period for other leading
source countries.

Obviously, if we re-elected the same incompetent Obama into the same position of president of the United States, and he failed in the first four years—he most certainly will fail in the next four years. He lacks the intellectual, educational and business dynamics to garner experts and specialists to succeed.

He did nothing to solve our unemployment crisis. He did nothing to secure our borders, but he did sue states that tried to protect themselves from illegal aliens taking jobs from Americans. He did keep the Afghanistan War ongoing and costing us billions upon billions of dollars. He kept the $700 billion annual trade deficit on-going while making China rich and our country poor and unemployed. If he showed competence, he would have instituted “Fair trade” instead of continuing “Free trade.”

I don't beleive this for a minute. I would wager that the majority want to see the border sealed and the laws on the books enforced. We don't know who these illegals really are, or the crimes they may have committed. Do you think an inept Federal worker will be able to untangle the convoluted mess this will create if we grant free passes for all? How insane is this?

You're right but the corporate media wants amnesty and open borders, so they run bogus stories like this to try to alter the publics opinion. It's like the big setup to condition people, before congress finally caves in to corporate pressure (money).

Why Americans Think (Wrongly) That Illegal Immigrants Hurt the Economy
May 13, 2010 8:00 PM EDT
Job insecurity, strapped state budgets, and xenophobia may all play a role. But there’s more to it than that.
http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2010/05...
"First and foremost,[illegal immigration] it's a source of value added. The total goods and services that they consume through their paycheck, plus all that they produce for their employers, is close to about $800 billion. They're also producing at relatively lower costs because the undocumented population typically gets about 20% less in wages than if they were legalized. That leads to lower prices for us and higher profits to employers. In addition, they're obviously a huge consumer base. We've seen that 90% of the wages that the undocumented population gets are spent inside the U.S. Remittances are sent abroad, but that only represents about 10% of immigrants' income. The numbers are becoming quite huge. We estimate about $50 billion dollars in remittances this year. That means that total consumptive capacity remaining in the U.S. is $400 billion to $450 billion. If you took away the undocumented population, it would be the worst economic disaster in the history of the U.S."

The government should say they can only get citizenship if they are NOT on welfare. In that case, none of them would qualify. And if they got off of welfare, that would save us hundreds of billions of dollars per year.

The LEGAL immigrants we bring here can't be on welfare. They have to be working, paying taxes and buying a home, so why not do the same with the 12 million illlegal immigrants? Because they are all on welfare. If they were not on welfare and working and paying taxes and buying homes, we obviously would not be brining legal immigrants in from other countries to do just that. Now we have to bring in 250,000 a year from other countries to pay for the 12 million Mexicans to collect welfare. Where does it all end??

The reason we can't give them citizenship is because another hoard of illegal aliens would take their place. Do not trust our government to do the right thing, after they give the vermin citizenship. They didn't do the right thing after the amnesty in 1986.
