Something of a culture clash is unfolding on today's editorial page of the Seattle Times and Monday's editorial page of the Tri-City Herald , with the Eastern Washington newspaper supporting the idea of armed school administrators and staff in the Toppenish School District, and the Western Washington newspaper calling the idea "a disaster waiting ... Yes, train and arm volunteer members of the faculty and staff to respond to an active shooter. The tragedy waiting to happen is another shooter entering the school knowing no one will stop them until the police arrive on scene. There are plenty of devices to ensure weapons are properly secured on their person or locked up until needed.
Fighting over more gun control, banning weapons and banning magazine capacity doesn’t protect the unarmed schools from an active shooter in the present.
