I was fired from my job in Georgia for promoting same sex marriage on my Facebook page. Perfectly legal for them to do so in Georgia. They advised me that most of Georgia dislikes gays and. Therefore they could not employ someone with an opposite public opinion. I accepted they fact that my public opinion cost me my job. That's just the way it is. I moved on. Why should bigots get special protection?

I'm familiar with Gallaudet and deaf people have faced a lot of discrimination over the years so it's sad that they would be so hypocritical.

I'm no expert, but it was my understanding that only the Government can be accused of abridging one's Freedom of Speech, not a private institution. But maybe I'm wrong. I have been before.

Really? Someone ought to get over to Atlanta and let THEM know about gays in Georgia. I spent some time there and had a FAB time. More bars and clubs than San Francisco!

Well, I was half right on my above post, maybe. Would we consider a home-owners association a form of government? I read in the paper today that a home-owners association made a resident remove a political sign from his yard. The court said they were abridging his Freedom of Speech. But I am pretty sure I am still correct about a private university or other private operation being unable to abridge that same Freedom of Speech.
