It's OK to lie if it's for a good cause.

Although, when the lie is uncovered, then it should always be reported on the back page of major news outlets in fine print in 20 words or less and reported in such a way as to leave considerable doubt about it being a lie or just a simple oversight. There's no excuse for doing otherwise in a free and fair media.

First impressions endure. 90% of the population doesn't care what comes after. The media has taught us to never question sound bites anyway.
