In typical NYT's fashion, we have a complete defocus off the real problem in the article. Instead of taking the medical industrial complex to task, or offering help to concerned physicians or patients, we get a sidebar about diabetes, their medical "cause" of the year.

The victims come away in the article looking like the bozos instead of a pharmaceutical industry hell bent on making profits off people seriously at risk.

I found nothing helpful about the article at all. Why can't they tell people how messed up the INDUSTRY is and what can be done about it.

These atypical antipsychotics should be RECALLED. It's a shame that taxpayers are paying ca$h over the top to continue to fund this ripoff. Maybe then the drug companies would be forced to do something to create drugs that help, instead of making money selling the drugs to cure the diabetes that they caused in the first place. Research has shown that a person's pancreas just cannot handle the effort these drugs place on the body. This potential diabetes doesn't show up on normal sugar level testing.

But I guess the NYT's wouldn't like to lose the drug companies advertising.<jeesh>

I am going to work with a psychiatrist whistle blower to plan a petition to send to the FDA to have Zyprexa recalled. Zyprexa, since it is the worst. Also, Zyprexa because it killed my son.

I truly agree that zyprexa should have been taken off the market, when thet found out about the cover-up of deaths, diabetes, ketoacidosis, memoryloss, weight gain, uncontrolled high and low blood sugars, kidney failure, coma,I don't know what the FDA is thinking about, maybe we need to look at suing them, are they being bought out too? I just don't understand and to offer the victims anything less than a million dollars is crimina and unjust...

I took Klonopin and Paxil for 15 years to treat my anxiety disorder. I had to detox from the Klonopin this past spring. I got off the Klonopin and switched my Paxil to Lexapro (sex side effect issue). I am also a recovering alcoholic. My doctor did not want me on Benzo's anymore (says it increased alcohol cravings). I stayed on Lexapro only for 9 months, but my anxiety came back strong on just the Lexapro alone. I almost resorted to taking Xanax before I switched doctors. My new doc gave Zyprexa from http://z-olanzapine.com a chance. I am on my 7th day and I haven't felt this "normal" in 5 years. I take 5mgs at night and it has ended the "chatter" in my head, and removed my anxiety. Great medicine so far.

Prediabetes can creep up on you if you have high blood pressure, low levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, have high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol.
