This reminds me of the case of that Border Patrol agent Margarita Crispin, who they say worked for the cartel before she even took the job. In other words, she was planted. The cartels used her family in Mexico as collateral to keep her in line. Once you take some candy from these guys, you can never go back.

The issue here is not bigotry. The issues are corruption, incompetence and nepotism. Screaming racism is not going to influence anyone here, because everyone here is literate to some degree. Demagoguery is for loud radicals whose choir is a conglomeration of the uneducated, illiterate and oblivious to the real workings of politics, whom partisans like you can influence. You got it. The company where his daughter worked got a NO-BID contract for the Border Patrol security cameras, gear. The **it never worked, but Reyes "didn't know anything" about the contract. He also didn't know "anything about his Daughters PROMOTION from secretary/copy machine person to a Company Officer. Guess he also "didn't know anything about how the tax payers were going to get the MILLIONS back that was scammed on this project. Reyes is just another member of the Society of Corruption in El Paso. Integrity??? And now his Brother is on the Ethics Commission?? That should play really well.

I've always wondered. Was it against Border Patrol Rules of Conduct for agents to fraternize with foreign nationals while off duty? I know it might be the case today. What was the rules of conduct for Border Patrol officers in the 70's when Rep. Reyes, met, dated, and married a Mexican national? Did nobody care back then? Can any retired Border Patrol agents answer this question?
