Global warming hasn't stopped, global cooling hasn't stopped. As long as we are heated by our sun, both the warming and the cooling will continue.

Our sun is a variable star, it does not put out the same amount of energy all the time. It's not the same distance from the earth all the time.

The earth's systems have cycles and do not 'use' the solar energy the same way all the time.

To try to use averages to define our climate is like saying one place with a temp of 90 and another with a temp of 70 were both actually 80.

We do not have temperatures for many parts of the world prior to the 1950s. And the data sets that start in the 1880s start at a cold period. If they started in the 1850s we would have less global warming. If they started in the 1790s we would see little global warming.

Cherry picking? Why start the temp record during cold period.
