Michigan is seeing the very worst of this. Although I'm currently employed, I'm looking for a better pay and benefits package, and have been told by many companies, after spending hours in interviews (not to mention travel) that the "position is now on hold." Companies are afraid to make big commitments with this economy, thanks to Granholm.

yay! the Dow is now the leading indicator of how the economy is doing. What a major turn around since it didn't matter when GW was President. How did this major turnaround happen?

So would I, people don't realize how expensive an (ONE) employee is, even if they make zero$ per hour and NO benefits.

Go ahead, start a biz, then post us back.

Because THAT is the big disconnect between what you see on TV and actually running a biz.

The norm for profit for the big guys is a max of 3% profit, more like 1%, REGARDLESS of the high money amounts you hear about, you got to sell a lot of stuff or you die quickly.

The only profits gained is on the floor of the Dow, for the selling, bait switching.
There is no profit that I can see, holding stock for the 10 years. Before Obama, at least I got some interest from the sales of my stock; now nothing.
Don't know about the daily traders out there, some who were savy made a couple of bucks, but have now lost to inflation.

Can anyone tell us just what is needed to bring manufacturing back to life in America? What is this certainty everyone is talking about?
Taxes on business too high?
Regulations on how to do business?
Cost of benefits required> etc.
It needs to be laid out clearly.
