Today's market requires creativity and thinking outside the box to survive. Kodak persisted in continuing to produce camera film and developing equipment and chemicals well past the time when they should have realized such items were going the way of the Conestoga wagon. It should have been getting out of that part of the business at least ten years ago and started putting its money into new areas of the industry.

Any company that lacks vision is doomed. Sears is a classic example of a company that has made terrible decisions over the years and is suffering for them now. It bought K-mart, an already struggling department store, and Sears put absolutely NO effort into rebuilding or redesigning K-mart into a place people want to shop at. Sears insisted on remaining tied to expensive malls, when mall shopping has been on the decline for many years now.

Don't cry for Kodak. They rested on their laurels and got left behind. Companies can cry and moan all they want about the cost of employees, but they sure don't mind paying big bucks to executives who have no vision and drive the company into the ground with poor decision. Then they take their great big severence packages and move on to the next debacle.

My prediction for the next company to go under? Burger King. They are making an incredibly stupid business decision right now that will ruin them. Business executives. Gotta love 'em.
