Does not Federal Law state that a person is a minor (child) until the age of 18? It should be raised to 18 then. Children should not be driving.

It should be RAISED, not lowered... most teens can't handle the responsibility of driving.

I think we should lower the permit age to 14 years old and license age to 15 years and 6 months. That gives kids a YEAR and 6 MONTHS of experience. To where even stupid/wreckless kids will start to learn the cautions of driving. And many peoples arguements are saying why do 15 year olds need license? Well first off we are in high school and get up at 5:00 in the morning and every morninh i have to wake my mom to drive me to the bus stop, i think she would enjoy my freshman year a lot more could just walk out the door. Also 15 year olds can have jobs and are responsible enough to save money and work hard.

"Give it a try"... when you are 30, you'll look back and see how wrong you were.

Maybe we can allow someone to get a learners permit at 15, but driving on their own... I'd be ok with that being moved to 21.

none of you are getting the point i am 13 and i am in 11th grade chemistry biolagy and i excell at 12th grade all aspects of lanugage arts except spelling i never could learn huge words anyway you all are missing the point these days kids get a little to curios about the cars and so mom and dad fall asleep and say they have a nissan altima a very quite car and so what is stoping that kid from grabbing his moms keys in the kitch outta her purse and going for a joy ride o noone will know obivously hes to young and inexperianced and has never drivien and pulls out of the drive way a wrecks well theirs your answer it should be raised for that reason and aslo lowerd some areas with higher counts of joyriding under ther legall age for driveing and from their take the median from the amount of kids of their age and lower the age of permitt to a year below it some areas with low ages may lower it but most of the time kids dont think of it so thats why only areas with high accounts should be lower while yet ones that have no or almost no accounts of joyriding should be brought to 17 for drivers 16 permitt and if cases of joy riding begin to rise it should be lowerd (ect. all accounts)
and therfore should be the answer to this question that all of you have terribly gotten wrong no offense but it is a trick question when both sides of the argument see it they begin to fight and not she the light that they are both wrong lol good night have a bit more sense im 13 and after reading this you all fighting for under age are to unready my parents hate driving all the time and when that happens to you cause you think its so fun you reenact but i am not say you are reckless and trust me nothing you say i study pshycolagy and i now for s fact that all kids do not have a good enough sense as a adult to know when it is the right time to screw around like going fast or avoiding a accident their the same thing when it comes down to it.

It not the drinking and driving we are worried about, it the speeding and driving like you are in GTA.
If this goes thru, I an see auto insurance going up real fast in the NY area.
Ok Matthew, learn how to write, because if you are old enough to drive then i'd be worried. I live in Chicago and I received my learners permit right when I turned 15. If you think it is just teens who are morons than you are sorely wrong. That is like me saying anyone who is an adult is a moron because they drink and that makes them drunk drivers.

Why do you think kids have the highest insurance?

Don't answer, that was a rhetorical question.

Because they are the biggest risks.

Need to low it? Heck no, raise it to age 21.
