The Mayor of Bridgeport continues to say that these "community" agencies such as Optimus can bill at a higher rate - this DOES NOT HELP THE CITY, this inly increases the revenues for the agencies. Whereas it stand now the "health clinics" revenues go into the general fund of the city budget. Also, if he researched further he would know that the Bridgeport School Based Health Centers have the HIGHEST percentage of enrollement in the NATION. But he refuses to speak to the management team at the current health clinics and instead in the midst of a defecit he hires a consultant to research information that he can obtain for FREE!! Smart Budgeting - I don't think so. He should also look into the models across the country so he can learn that not only arethe current health centers advanced with their billing system but they are much more effective and provide follow through services - not fragmented services. Which is what will happend if his plan goes into action.

The School Based Health Clinics have been recognized for it's model NATIONALLY! The one thing Bridgeport has done well and right. The one thing that is not CORRUPT in this city and this CORRUPT mayor wants to take it away. Open your eyes, Mayor...do your research! Stop taking away services that work for Bridgeport's Kids!
Interesting that you yourself are a Bpt resident, yet you put your kids in Private Schools. Maybe if you helped services for kids, you could keep your kids in public school. Why is this system acceptable for everyone else's kids, but not your own! Stop making backdoor deals! You are spineless!

What the hec happened to parents???? Don't they do anything anymore?? This is a supposed to be a school system, not a medical facility. The idiots who run these towns and cities need to slash all these ridiculous programs, and tell parents to GET UP OFF YOUR FAT LAZY REAR END AND BE PARENTS. Make your kids lunch, take them to the doctor, teach them respect, and teach them work ethics. I'm tired of paying for a government that thinks they have to be everyones parent and support every piece of crap who chooses not to work and be responsible.

IT IS ABOUT TIME! Bill Finch's children are a PRODUCT of the Bridgeport PUBLIC System!! This is the last place he should make cuts from. These children NEED every program availibe. It is not the children's fault the city is MISMANAGED!!!!!! Cutting any program that has to do with Education is A SLAP IN THE FACE TO ALL THE DEDICATED TEACHERS who taught his children. Shame on you Mayor Finch..

HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT!!! Why punish CHILDREN for the mistakes of the parents!!! This is the ONLY HEALTHCARE some of these children get!! Some parents work, but can not afford things such as glasses, medication ect... You should come visit a classroom someday and get a REAL LESSON ON LIFE AS AN INNER CITY STUDENT.

I had a lesson, it was called growing up dirt poor. My mother worked, yet still made time to take me to the doctor, make my lunch, and pay attention to my needs. We didn't have cable TV, mom never had a new car, I most certainly never had $100.00 sneakers. But we ate better than most do today, even when it was leftovers, and as far as I'm concerned, I had a great childhood. How many of these kids getting health care on the backs of the taxpayer have cell phones, overpriced clothes, and how many of their parents have a new car?????? The meatheads who run towns and cities kiss the rear ends of the special interests, and bleeding hearts, while those of us who choose to work, and be responsible, have our pockets picked.

So true...most of their parents aren't parents - they were egg and sperm donors. I agree that there should be health care for people who don't get it through work and for the kids, but let's stop parenting the kids and feeding them. These kids that get free everything (lunch, healthcare, breakfast, test waivers (SAT), and college admission fee waivers) have $200 Ipods,$200 cell phones,$200 jackets, lots of $50 hats, etc. Cable, expensive cars...there is a problem here.

We need to have people go out and audit these adults that are on welfare and assistance - if they can afford to buy expensive stuff, take away their assistance!
