The amazing thing is that 85% of these posters are in agreement about the CPD. I have never seen such a one sided argument on these forums. It's always been known in my neck of the woods that CPD is the biggest gang of hoods in the city but to see that this particular sentiment is shared across the ethnic/income/neighborhood boundaries that usually divide us makes me sick to think that the problem is even worse than I always imagined.

Well i must say that there are alot of officers who are really bad and then are some who are good.I have never been arrested and have seen how officers treat citizens.My daughter who was a victim of police brutality is now putting in a complaint.It is not all about the money it's the principal of the matter.You don't have to do bad things to people to feel superior.To be swearn in by the mayor to serve and protect the people and these thuggish officer does more harm than protect is very sad.It's people of all color that has been a victim to the brutality.I just beleve that nothing that is good is not of god therefore u will weep what you sowe.I hope noone really believes that they get away with hurting someone.In reality they are only getting by with it.It is evidence that it comes back on those crooked,scandlous,rude and evil officers.

While she patted me down, several other cops appeared out of nowhere & one cop in particular, looked through the windows of my vehicle.
I asked him why was he doing that & he said I could have drugs or weapons in my vehicle.
It was evident, I was not a drug dealer & I was just a decent normal looking Black woman who unfortunately came in contact with these sadistic devils on a bright Sunday morning, on my way to church!
Oh by the way, they didn't have tails or horns!
When I got to the station, I was handcuffed to a steel bar, while the rude & ignorant officer wrote me a ticket.
The people (CPD)I came in contact with were ignorant, abusive & mentally insane!
I am mortified to know, I live in beautiful, world-class city such as Chicago, yet the CPD have given this town a bad name!
Whomever these bad cops are, I say to Mayor Daley: Get the vermin out, before good residents, like myself cross the border! hint hint. when you dont have a license and tickets are to be issued . you are technically under arrest. you are transported to the station. general orders state that any one under arrest are to be handcuff for everyones safety. also each arrestee must be searched. so if your feelings were hurt, carry your license on you next time. then you would have gotten your ticket and been on your way. why is it everyone is just headed to church. the citizens will feel the effect in a few years when the criminals get to do what they want, because an officer , wont want to stop anyone. i am thinking about si=uing the city to , since they pay out for every link card receipant .

True..sometimes we are rude...sometimes we are abrasive. Its all a part of the job. Its all about maintaning control of a situation. Its all about going home safe to our families. This isnt a 9 to 5 job. I have had bad injuries on this job that will haunt me when I am old. You want to know what its like? Do a ride along in one of the following districts. 011, 015, 007, 004, 010 and see what its like to be a cop for 8 hours. I guarantee it will sickin you! Most Cops are law abiding. Some are swell headed and a few are dirty. I dont hang out with cops after work.
I forget this city and job as soon as I go home.
I have started a home based business and thats where all my free time is spent. As for parking...we need to have our squad car close in case we get a hot call. Ask yourself this...if you are getting the dog snot kicked out of you by some nut, or being raped, will 30 seconds count? Damn right they will. 95% of the problem with this city is Mayor Daley! He is nothing more than a modern day Al Capone.

Yes some cops are bad, but lets look at teh numbers. There are 13,500 Chicago Police. Out of that number in the last five years approximately 100 have been arrested/charged/convicted of some crime. Now I say good riddance to bad police.
However 100 out of 13,500 Police is not even 1%.
Now look at the 50 alderman, they have a higher rate of criminal activity. Same with congressmen, and senators per capita
Most Police try to do their job in an honorable fashion. Less than 1%, hmmmm why dont you try and do the job you want them to do. All the police bashing has led to is a higher crime rate in chicago . Murders and shootings everywhere. You ask why? The answer the Police are not being proactive anymore as they are afraid of the screaming liberals who attack everything they do.
and before you say im smoking crack a great example would be when the cougar was shot in chicago. every talking head thought the police were wrong for shooting a wild animal. They can never win.

Tell all of the cops to take a day off, not go to work on the same day! Whatdo you tkink would happen. No complaints for beating people!!
when they hire new officers, take them in order of how they score on the test, don't pick and chose based on race or sex!

Oh woe is me, is that all you pukes have to say. Why don't you apply for the job, no one wants it anymore anyway because of the way that we are protrayed in the liberal media. Yes, are there some bad apples, absolutely. Doesn't every profession have them?? Doctors, lawyers, accountants, teachers....and so on and so on. But the majority are good, hard working officers. Are some liberties taken in regards to parking? Sure. Would you rather we take up a legal spot that you might need?? Stop it. Walk in our shoes one night, have someone point a gun at you. Get in the middle of a ghetto domestic disturbance. Get spit on, get punched when an arrestee tries to run away instead of going to jail. Get shot, or get shot at. Hold your partner or team mate after they have been shot and are bleeding all over you and the street as you yell on the radio for a After you have done all of these things, then why don't you cast your opinion of us. Yes I am a Chicago Police Officer, proud every day that I come to work, and I go to sleep at night with a clear conscience every night. You hate us and cast us in a negative light until you need us, until you call us or until you want a break on a traffic ticket. How dare you sleep warm at night under the blanket of protection that we provide and then question the manne in which we provide it. Look at yourselves and judge yourself, you are not qualified to judge me or my brothers and sisters.

Interestingly enough it's all about perspective.
Most of the "COP HATERS" are typically relatives or the BAD GUYS themeselves, because they are either in jail or been there and couldn't sell drugs to provide for their baby's mama or got caught for shooting the guy on the block for kicking his ass the week before. So of course the police are ALL bad.
The guy that takes an ass kicking for punching a policeman or shooting at one feels slighted and feels he deserves justice. He was served justice and then he wants to complain because he chose to fight, and LOST.
Now the there are some bad policemen sure, just like there are bad people in any line of work. Think about the guy or girl at your job that no one likes and no one condones their behavior. Do you really think that the legit police officers that are out everyday working really LIKE or CONDONE the bad policemen?
COMMON SENSE
Sometimes mistakes are made in identifying a bad guy or a guy gets stopped by the police outside of a party. But I'm sure we only hear THEIR side of the story and not the part on how the YELLED, " *&ck you!" to the police or threw something at the police.
Isn't it amazing how everyone was just "MINDING THEIR OWN BUSINESS" and the police just suddenly attacked them. The police just don't arbitrarily start beating people because they want to have a complaint generated against them or sued civilly because they think it's fun. Typically they are provoked or attacked and then it's always, "MY FRIEND WAS JUST MINDING HIS OWN BUSINESS" or "I WAS JUST STANDING THERE DOING NOTHING."
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THEY HANG OUT BY THEMESELVES ON A STREET CORNER AND DO NOTHING? OR HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN HONESTLY SAY THEY HANG OUT AT A PARTY DRUNK AND ARE COURTEOUS WHEN THE POLICE TELL THEM TO SHUT THE PARTY DOWN?
Anyone with common sense will realize that they are L_Y_I_N_G! But we are asking for alot aren't we? COMMON SENSE!

Now the guy that "is an AVID WEIGHTLIFTER and was INSULTED because they made comments about his girlfriend" I'm sure YOU NEVER stand around with your friends at the gym look at a female and make comments. YOU WOULD NEVER DO THAT! They weren't intimidated because you were WHITE,Dressed like a yuppie and an AVID WEIGHTLIFTER. They were embarrassed that they got caught looking and didn't want to provoke an incident that would have had an outcome of arresting you for a common mistake. That's using "COMMON SENSE"
The bad guys will talk trash and so will their relatives because they feel if they keep yelling everyone will just believe them. Always pulling the race card.
RACE had absolutely nothing to do with why you went to jail.
RACE has absolutely nothng to do with you getting your ass kicked for fighting with the police.
If you get caught doing a crime and go to jail, then thats the price you pay.
If you choose to fight with police and get your ass kicked because you don't want to go to jail,then that's the price you pay.
COMMON SENSE
No policemen wants to sit in the ghetto all day and fight with everyone or get shot at. But yet EVERYDAY those brave souls go out fight crime.
POLICEMEN only see the worst in people because the only time YOU CALL FOR THE POLICE is when you are at your worst. Whether you are a victim fo a crime or the perpetrator of that crime.
Policemen are the last wall of defense of some a*%hole breaking into your home and raping/killing your children and wife.
Policemen keeps the bad guys from attacking your mother,sister, or children, BECAUSE THEY INTIMIDATE THE BAD GUYS. Without the intimidation the bad guys think they can do whatever they want.
People with common sense should realize that if the city keeps tying the hands of the police then the bad guys win. Most policemen have realized that since the new superintendent of police just wants to crucify his own people then it does not help their cause to be the police. So the city will gets exactly what it wants, a police department that does only what it's supposed to do, nothing more.
So the aggressive police that were locking a drug dealers and guys shooting at your children, will retire. They will answer their calls, they will write their reports, and that's the end. They will not arrest the bad guys that are intimidating your neighborhoods, they will not write search warrants and lock up the drug/gun dealers on your block,and you complainers can have your perfect drug ridden/violent city.

But NO ONE ever remembers the bad guys just that the police arrested him, not the things that he did or was convicted of, huh?
I'm glad to be gone soon. Retirement will be the best. I will sit on my porch in the woods, smoke a cigar, and protect my family and property. Let this city burn to the ground and let the bad guys win.
Definitions;
Liberal: Citizen that walks around with their head in sand, complaining about whats wrong with the police and how the poor down trodden rapist/killer deserves a second chance.
Conservative: Liberal that was a Victim of a crime by that same rapist/killer.

A cab driver hit and ran my truck,now,i went to the police station(10th district)and the officer made a mistake on my report.I noticed the mistake and got treated really bad.Not only did they make fun out of me but they refused to speak to me(wouldnt) even look at me.They took my boyfriend to a office,at that time another officer threatened me and said"i was in their house and if i would take another step,he would arrest me in his house".I asked to speak to a sargent .When i finally got a sargent,he never got up from his seat,and,had his back towards me the whole time.When i said i wanted a complaint about the officer,he got really loud with me and told me to forget about it,and told me to leave.My idiot boyfriend was so scared,that he said and did nothing.He left with his tail between his legs,and,i left very offended.They(10th district)treated really bad,they even joked and laugh at me.I don't drink,or do drugs.I work and pay my bills.I always pay my taxes and this is what i have to show for being a good person.

For example:
A Traffic accident where the person was too busy talking on the cell phone to pay attention to driving wipes out some poor guys car. Now the police are there trying to clean the mess up and Mr. Trib reader is busy talking to the insurance company. The cop asks the guy to please hang up the the phone so the crash can be attended to. Of course he does not. A young cop will probably wait, a seasoned cop will say "Get the ph-uck off the phone." He does this in order to speed the process since being direct is often the only way though to most of you knuckleheads. What you do not realize is it is for your own good. Most people do not have the common sense to avoid trouble so it is up to the police to help. Problem is most people, as adults, have a hard time being told in a stern voice what to do. This comes across as rude and unprofessional, when more likely it is just a safety and time saving measure since the officer has learned that being polite just does not work, in most cases.
Bad cops out there? Sure. Rude cops out there? Lots. Stupid citizens? Most. Just how it is.
And the next time one of you asks a cop why he lets his car idle, or parks close to the doors at a home depot, think about this: How far would you want him to run if the call came out that someone was mugging your mom, or breaking into your house?
Thought so. Wow, this was a good comment. I see where you're coming from. And adults do have a hard time being told off by police officers.(So much that they file complaints based on that.)
