Skadate has a very buggy script, and they are dishonest. I say this having fallen to them as a customer. I purchased the script to have on my own hosting and had skadate install it. They stated they needed to have Shell Access for the install.

What they needed shell access for was to sabatoge the normal settings of the independent hosting company I was using over theirs, so it would appear that their script did not work on that host, and I would be forced to enter a monthly contract for hosting with them.

I say this with knowledge as I later moved to another host on my own, and simply uploaded the zip myself, without any shell access, and guess what? It worked!

Fortunately, I had a very good hosting company that alerted me to the sabatoge right after the install, as all of my sites went whacky--I hosted several sites on one account, and when Skadate screwed with the Shell settings, they through off ALL of my sites.

Maybe if I had one site I would not have been tripped to this dirty trick of theirs, but it backfired on them. My USA host fixed the sabatoge, and guess what? The skadate script worked fine. If that wasn't enough, the handful of support items I submitted to skadate on my paid support tickets, were incompetently handled.

They always seemed not to know how to figure it out, it must have had something to do with egads, my independent hosting company, but of course it would all be fixed if I paid skadate to host me! Fortunately I was able to search online on my own, and figure out and solve the mysterious problems they said they couldn't figure out, and I am no techie! They did solve a couple of little things, but the major support item I needed and wanted---guess what? They tried to find a way to make me pay more money for this item to be fixed. And that has been their tactic---try to milk you for all kinds of money once they have you as a customer.

Then if that wasn't bad enough, recently skadate has shut down their forum as a move to remove any searchable help reference to their software and force you to pay they for support. And they have the gall to almost double the price of the support that I found to be next to worthless, but worthless it seemed intentionally to move me to have them host my site and make monthly money off of me.

Their former support had been around $50 a month, and now they have the gall to charge $95 a month for support. I mean what kind of software do you purchase that then demands you pay them $95 a month for any kind of support? I mean who of us here who are real citizens of the USA would pay microsoft $95 a month for support on Word or Excel, or any pricey software? And who made sure to shut down access to their user forum?

I continue to find bugs, and quite frankly, I am just going to scrap their script and use something like joomla, which is free and reliable, has an open, longstanding user forum, and can be trusted. Simply do not buy skadate dating software; if they were honest and trustworthy, I would say yes. But I have found them to be dishonest, and when paid for support, poorly responsive or not at all.

The forum moderator can see my ip is a real us ip, but for my protection from skadate sabatoging my site before I switch it over to another software, I have of course used a different name than they know me as their customer---as they sabatoged my site when I was brand new to them and on good standing! So what will they try to do when they read my unhappy comments. But what I have to say is completely true.

I am very disappointed with them, because they could have had good business being honest, but instead they want to bully money out of customers and not give standard support. That's my truthful experience as well as my opinion on my real experience with them. I found their software a money trap to bleed you for more, and in this economy, who needs that!

Greetings everybody,

My name is Irene. I represent SkaDate dating software company. Let me add a few comments to the previous SkaDate review.

First of all, let me explain what SkaDate Team need SSH access for. We need it for faster unpacking the software after uploading it to the server, and in some cases for setting up the Cron. Definitely not all hosting companies provide SSH access for their shared hosting plans. In these cases we just unpack the software through a hosting account CPanel (provided it has a file manager), or give SSH commands to the hosting company to run at the appropriate time. So, SSH access is not an obligatory condition at the install. This is what you can find at our hosting requirements page ( http://www.SkaDate.com/server_requirements.ph... ): "If you want us to install the package for you, we will need SSH access to the server. Otherwise, you will need to ask your hosting provider for assistance". So, you are free to choose either to provide us with SSH access, or not.

Now, as to the hosting services. SkaDate company has not been offering hosting services for quite a long time, and is not planning to offer them in future. Our customers are free to choose the server to host the site on from a great variety of independent hosting companies. We also inform all of our customers that the selected hosting must meet our system requirements at http://www.SkaDate.com/server_requirements.ph... in order to avoid any pre- and post-installation issues. Our customers are free to run the installation by themselves using the installation manual, refer to a third-party programmer for assistance, or use our free installation service.

Each of our customers has full access to the software source code that has no licensed or encrypted files. This means that they can refer to any third-party developer for assistance in solving web site issues, or handle it on their own having enough coding skills. No customer of ours is bound to using our paid support services. As an alternative option we offer free customer support forum moderated by the competent support operator. However, support issues do occur, and most of the times they are caused by improper hosting account settings. This is why we ask our customers to confirm if the hosting server meets all our system requirements before the install. In case the discovered issues appear to be system bugs - we guarantee fixing them for free in a timely manner.

Kelly wrote:

That is totally not true. What you have said is just another proof of you not being a SkaDate customer, because on contrary we opened a free customer support forum available to all SkaDate customers. We did that in order to give a free support option over the paid ticket support services.
Kelly wrote:

Could you please specify which of the numerous ip addresses you are using to post this very same post in different resources is real? We were able to find quite a few comments posted under different names and ip addresses, but with the very same content. A few examples: Kelly from New York, Michael from Scranton, Jeremy and Dave both from different cities.

What you state to be an excuse for using false identity is nothing more than a fiction. We all know that to modify the software code (either for good or for bad purposes) one needs access to the server account the site is hosted on. These access details can be easily changed by the hosting account holder thus preventing anyone else from accessing it. No access = no way to harm the site. SkaDate does not host web sites. All SkaDate customers are using third-party hosting providers, so comments about 'fear of settings sabotage' are groundless and obviously fake.

To sum it up, I would like to ask if the comment author could kindly provide his web site URL so that all the readers would be able to see the malfunctioning web site powered by SkaDate with such a lot of errors. Just so that the accusations would not sound groundless. From our part we guarantee that if we are able to see the system bugs you are talking about - they will be fixed by us for free.

For now, you can have a look at the web sites powered by SkaDate who are live, haunted and functioning with no issues at http://www.SkaDate.com/testimonials.php

We all know what black PR is. Unfortunately, we have to face the slander attempts by our competitor quite often. You can have a look at the official black PR response by SkaDate company CEO at http://www.skadate.com/black_pr_response.php , and also a piece of interesting information from a third-party resource not related to SkaDate in any way: http://www.datingscripts.biz/dating-software-...

We truly hope that the readers will not fall victims of unfair competition methods, and will make a final decision based purely on personal experience.

i would just like to say that i have been a customer of Skadate for a number of months now and can honestly say i am very satisfied with them, the script is not full of bugs and every time i use it i am amazed at something else i find out.
the help forum has been enough for me, although i am capable of dipping into the code to tweak it to suit, indeed that's why i chose it as the code is completely open source.
I just wanted to add my say.

Greetings,
I have also bought this software and found it not only to be of poor quality but it is also full of bugs. I selected my own web server and it's a good thing I did because I wouldn't have even got through the installation without third party support. There were about 20 different bugs and problems that came up and it took quite some time to correct all of them. The web pages really look terrible as well and problems show up so much your never really sure if you can leave the site alone or whether to babysit it all day. Really a pitiful design. You would have thought it wouldn't have been so full of bugs at least. I think most people who try this don't even read these reviews until after the purchase is made and this company won't give you a refund but had to mention how suprisingly poor it was for the investment. Nobody stays on the site after you set it up because people seem to hate the design of the web pages looking so dull any way or because their are so few features that are easy to access. Competition from the big sites and the thousands of other sites make it nearly impossible to get noticed on the web anyway, which nobody realizes at first.

Hello Mark,

I officially represent SkaDate Dating Software Company.

Unfortunately, I was not able to find Mark Carter among SkaDate customers. Moreover, we do not have any customers from Plainville. In regards to that, I would like to ask the name of the customer the license is registered for, and a web site URL. We will be happy to assist with fixing any site issues for free in case they appear to be software bugs. We give a guarantee for that to all SkaDate customers.
Mark Carter wrote:

We will be grateful if you list the problems you got faced with here. We have been polishing up SkaDate software to make it live up to your expectations. Version 7.5 is very stable and robust. We aim at eliminating all the possible bugs and problems, even minor ones. So your detailed feedback will be highly appreciated, of course in case you are a real SkaDate customer.
Mark Carter wrote:

SkaDate customers don't have to perform the installation by themselves or refer to third-parties, because we offer professional free software installation at your purchase. However, they do have an option to install the script on their own. We provide them with the necessary installation manuals and support assistance. If your server meets all the system requirements ( http://www.skadate.com/server_requirements.ph... )- the installation process takes minutes, and does not appear to be complicated at all.
Mark Carter wrote:

You have every opportunity to check SkaDate dating and community templates before purchase: http://www.skadate.com/site_samples.php . You can also visit our demo http://www.skadate.com/demo and choose any of the available themes to see how the index and inner pages look. If you like none of the available templates - you can always customize them to your needs or integrate your own design, as you have full access to the software source code, and a custom template creation manual. We would also like to announce that we are about to release a software build with new templates and even more exciting features.
Mark Carter wrote:

Well, that's not only about the software. That's about a site conception, a clever marketing campaign, and your will to succeed.

In the end, I would like to add that we are doing our best to make SkaDate better. We are adding new templates, features suggested by our customers at suggest.skadate.com , making the platform more stable and secure. We have been offering one month of free ticket support to all the new SkaDate customers in order to help them master site management basics faster. We provide free lifetime access to the customer support forum, and software updates and upgrades.

Feel free to contact us 24/7 at http://www.skadate.com for any questions or concerns. We are always glad to assist.

I have setup a swingers website for my local city. At the time of writing this I have about 1200 members and growing steadily each day. Usually between 20 and 60 are online at any one time.

The site used to use old classifieds software and I have trialed and paid for several other dating packages. In the end, and after running out of my budget, I decided to try skadate. I bought a copy off the net which ended up being an illegal copy unfortunately. I can say I am very happy with it.

Skadate( http://www.skadate.com/... ) has SO MANY features and options. the learning curve is high due to the amount of features but its worth it for everything that is available.

I write my own php. Skadate is very well structured, but I found it hard to work it out at first. Its not simple software but if you put in the effort it becomes great to work with. I can now modify it with ease.

As for bugs, I have found few(in fact only 1). The only one that pops up from time to time is when I am saving some changes in admin, the site sometimes goes into suspended mode (preventing access to members). Its a funny one but has only happened on a few occasions. Its easy to fix by reseting suspend mode in admin.

Skadate( http://www.skadate.com/... ) provides you with a number of templates with which to make a website. of course you will have to modify them to make your site look like an individual. They provide good references on how to do this.

Overall, I think Skadate is a great piece of software. Even if you have to put some work in to design your own look and feel, the software is SO worth it for the structure and features. Imagine how long it would take to write it yourself, but for three of 400 dollars you can get it cheap. I know this, I tried that approach and wasted so much time and money.

I'm buying my OFFICIAL copy this month, and then I will be opening several other sites and buying more copies. My affiliate ads on my site will pay for it and after the first month or two i'll be making a profit.

Great software guys

I approve that SCADATE is Kyrgiz scam. And "Tim" who tries to improve the situation with the quantity of the bad reviews is Emil Sarnogoev himself, the famous Kyrgyz scammer. You can clearly see it for example here: http://www.mytestbox.com/news/skadate7-online...
Below, where the comments are made by this "Tim" there is a red flag. Just roll over it and you will see that "Tim" is a bit, humm, from Kyrgizstan. For those of you who have never heard anything about such a country, this country scams even Russia and exports nothing else than drugs. You can read about it in the news:
http://en.rian.ru/world/20090303/120386368.ht...
"Kyrgyzstan and other Central Asian republics are a major gateway to Russia and Europe for the continual flow of drugs from Afghanistan, the world's leading producer of heroin."
They take your money and spend them on growing more heroin, and after that your friends and children die from drug using.
Skadate has a lot of complaints all around the web. Try googling Skadate complaints.
SCADATE IS SCAM AND HEROIN EXPORTERS!!! STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!!

I'm seriously unhappy that I decided to go ahead and purchase SkaDate Scam Script EVEN AFTER reading all these terrible ratings. I am not one to be deterred by random disgruntled customer/black pr... thought since the "pre-sale" customer service was so good that I'd go ahead and buy it. anyway long story short - a day into buying the product i've already come across a hurdle. installation didn't go through all the way (they blamed it on the hosting company - although i know from past experience and a quick call to my hosting company that it wasn't a problem with hosting).
they are so quick and dismissive once teh sale was done. Now i'm scrambling for help in the forum - trying to figure out all this problem with my site crashing randomly. I have NO CLUE and no help certainly...
and the best part... when i ask for help through the support system - i get offered the wonderful $95/month plan to pay for support... YEAH RIGHT!! i pay for a product i cannot even customize even though they say it can be! moment you step into the backend to customize css, everything falls apart and no documentation to help us out!
This is beyond illegal to scam customers into buying a bugged-out software, with very little to no support (and limited "unique" templates) and then have them scurrying to pay more just to fix YOUR software... we are the customers, we shouldn't be fixing your errors. So if you cannot guarantee a bug-free product - then DON'T charge us for support!!!!
I SINCERELY learned my lesson (although it cost me a grand $400 USD). Never buy from a company with real bad PR... there's truth behind it (after all it cannot all be "fake comments")
and by the way, before you step on this message board telling me to come forward. I'd be glad to.. except i dont' plan on releasing my personal information on the web. simply contact me (I'm unfortunately still stuck being your customer til I find a more reliable software). So reply back to me if you have a remedy for this ridiculous situation! Skadate Scam Script has a lot of complaints all around the web. Try googling Skadate complaints. Report to www.BBB.org if you have your own complaint.

I am an actual customer of Skadate. I am not a competitor. I will give a detail investigative report on their customer support, software security, access to source code, and possible bugs found. If Skadate does something good I will post it. If they do as they promise, they will get a good grade and more people will buy their products. Good service always equal more sales. Let's begin: Before I purchased the software, Skadate Pre-Sale team promised "in writing" that they will upon installation 1. remove their branding everywhere on the script. 2. basic customization of the index/homepage (add languages, replace image, edit Search box age 18-103 instead of 20-103, one template for the homepage and a different for the internal pages).***Nothing was done***. After I purchased the software for $400 they did not keep their promise and stated I should hire a dating site developer to have the script customized or do it myself. They suggested the "client area" has a forum and I may find answers to most of my questions. By the way they took 3 days to install the software. Remember they only give you 30 days of free support. I asked them for access to the back end (administration) so I can I play around with the code since I am familiar with programming. It has been 4 days now they have not sent my username and password for both back end and client area. I had to asked my hosting company for access to the administration area which they gave me. Now, 7 days have passed. I only have 3 more weeks of free support, let's see what is going to happen this week. I think they are playing games to get you pass the 1 month free support so that they can charge you $95 per month thereafter and play some more games until you are locked in at the $95 per month support for life. I hope I am wrong. Let's see if they can redeem themselves. Pre-Sales (they will tell you anything so you can buy the product). Grade: A+ before you buy. After purchase (they save your IP address, you can't talk to them after purchase of the product): F Customer Support Grade: F Administration URL Path Security: F Administration source code provided: F Training Manual (I have not seen any training manuals: F Video Tutorials (I saw that they have 19 short videos on Youtube not detailed): D

I would like to begin by saying that my English is not so good, I hope my message is still clear and ppl understand my point, and Skadate do too!

I do not understand how come there are SO many bad posts about Skadate.com (every where on the net) and at the same time Skadate.com Is trying to sweep it off with “misunderstandings”“mistakes”“ now fired employs” or with “competition are trying to badmouth our platform”?

IF it was the case, where are all the good reviews then(except those on skadate.com )?

Why not get in touch with some of your existing supposedly all happy clients, ask them to write reviews about you, good ore bad. Maybe here or on other blogs?
DON’T FORGET, WITH A LINK TO THERE OWN DATING SITES.
It’s free advertising and would prove that skadate is not just trying to net and then milk ppl, as is the impression i get when reading almost all posts?

I know it’s “only” a 400$ dating platform, and you as a customer can’t expect a top of-the -line dating site, but they should at least expect what you promise us all Skadate.

1: No bugs
2: Good support
3: Customizable(with out the site crashes or you should have to pay more)
4: possible to do easy Brand removal
ect. ect.(i wont make the list fill 30 points)

I had actually wanted to choose you, since i am in the process of starting a dating site of my own…
But I dare hardly to call the pre-sales department, from what i read all over the internet.
To me it looks like they will promised everything I ask for!
Right until I have paid – then all the premisses and expectations stops or are not meet, and the hard / expensive(hair pulling), buggy, customization work begins…. Finding bugs, not being able to customize without crashes, can’t do rewriting of urls for SEO, being frustrated about the long customer service reply time, long load time on the site for the users caused by bad coding ect ect. Looks to me like It must be a GREAT job to work in the Pre-sales at Skadate, but it must really suck to be customer service employed…..

I can’t see myself using your templates “out the box” since it will have to be adjusted, and tweetet to my needs, but from what I can read ALL over the internet then it’s not so simple to get there, and is going to be a struggle/bug infested/crash happy process…
Far from what skadate want’s us to believe….

I have a great idea, offer to your new customers/clients that they pay 50% on the purchase of your platform and the remaining 50% by flawless, bug-free, customized and completed delivery?

200$ now and 200$ when it is flawless, bug-free and customized as the customer wants?
Put it on your own test server for let’s say maximum 30 day for purchased.
Fix everything here with the new client, when customized and it runs flawless then, the customer pays the last 50% and gets it transferred to his/her own server and you will be fully paid, for a good job done?
You would really show a good customer service by doing it like this and stop getting ALL the bad reviews, and believe me(without being 100% sure), ATM you are losing a fair amount of potential clients/customers – I think in the long haul this or some other better solution would greatly benefit you!

If you sweep my suggestion of, or wont answer my post? Expect many would see this as a another big red flag, and please stop blaming competitors for bad mouthing you, if your service is as good as you say, this should be the smallest problem for you(I read A LOT of reviews and this is only something i see with “bad company’s”- short said).
Why? Because the internet should be teeming/overflowing with good reviews(longer than 20-30 all positive words), all over. But that’s sadly, not the case……

Get over it, and let’s start seeing some good positive, real reviews,
I would very much like to be wrong in my assumptions, but it’s hard to believe with out seeing them any where.

Greetings from Sweden :-D

Hi Ole and everyone on these boards,
I’m Zima, the new SkaDate representative and I’d be glad to collect any constructive criticism, and answer any valid questions from potential or current SkaDate customers.
First of all, I want to address the general situation with SkaDate reviews, since some of the posters here deliberately raised it. Indeed, even basic search produces enough badmouth results to see that most of them either don’t hold water, like the scam accusations, or repeat the same things verbatim year after year, site to site, only with changed usernames. The only sites where such complaints go unanswered are the ones that don’t even allow us to provide our view. All legitimate and respected review aggregators (like David Evans, Dan Moore, or this place, etc.) allow us to answer unsatisfied clients, and we always do our best to resolve any outstanding issues.
It is true that some of our clients do experience problems, but we never leave them alone - quite simply it’s not in our interest. We’ve been on the market long enough (close to 10 years already) to understand the importance of every single customer in our microscopic niche of online dating software.
Another things that gets mentioned a lot is the allegation of a “buggy software”. Yet, review after review the bugs themselves are seldom mentioned for some mysterious reason. In any case, let me assure you that any encountered actual bugs are always fixed for free, period. Although, most of the time the problem arise from customizing software to suit a particular client vision (which varies quite a lot as you can imagine, and everyone has their own) but we are always ready to help even in such cases.
Finally, I want to address Ole in particular. I find your offer of a split payment quite intriguing, so I think we can work something out. Of course we’ll need to settle a few details first. Like, the request for a flawless customization - every single month we receive hundreds of customization inquiries (with varied degree of detailed technical task specifics), and they can go from simple logo replacement to complete code overhaul. Some of these are simply beyond our scope (we are a small independent company after all), and we have to relegate them to our partners (like design mods). Others are done in-house for free (like logo change, branding removal, location upload, etc.) Of course, there are also major customizations that require changing the code of software with the involvement of programmers - these are done for a fee either by us or, again, by our partners. Anyway, if you are still interested, contact me at skadate@info.com, and we’ll arrange everything.
