This isn't news. We know they are screwing us at the pumps. I want to see some of these CEOs go to prison for what they are doing to us. THAT would be news.

These poor oil company CEOs might not get to go on one of their many vacations or they might not be able to buy that new yacht while regular Americans are trying to figure whether to buy gas or food and are trying to explain to their children why there'll be no vacation this year. These CEO's should be ashamed of themselves. Do they not have hearts? How do they sleep at night?

In order to feel "shame", first you need to have a heart and/or conscience. This should answer at least 2 of your questions. What is "vacation"? I don't think I have ever had one of those. I am still trying to figure out what homeowners insurance and health insurance are. I don't have those either. If gas, food and taxes increase much more, I will be in the welfare lines. |
Also do not by beer on Saturday May 3 2008. This will make a big impact on Big Beer. Prices will fall by Monday May 5th Just in time for cinco de myo. |

WHY ARE WE AS AMERICANS EXPECTED TO BELIEVE THAT GAS PRICES "HAVE TO BE" THIS HIGH WHEN THE COMPANIES ARE CONTINUING TO MAKE RECORD PROFITS. HOW MANY BARRELS OF CRUDE OIL DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A GALLON OF GAS. GAS PRICES ARE EXPENSIVE BECAUSE OF GREED NOT BECAUSE OF LACK OF SUPPLY AND HIGH DEMAND. IT'S SICKENING TO HEAR NEWS STATIONS DO A REPORT AS TO WHY GAS PRICES HAVE TO RISE THEN TURN AROUND AND DO A REPORT OF RECORD PROFITS.
|
|
Big Oil companies buy futures in oil at low prices. Then they love it when the price per barrel goes up because the immediatley get to sell gas at the new market price. Their Timing of purchases coupled with record peaks of crude oil prices is what leads to the huge profit. It is like the housing boom was for house flippers. One day soon the price of crude will stabilize for an extended period and Exxon will have to buy at the high price. Then their profits will drop. |

i would love for someone to explain to me why this is happening. i still remember when gas was $1.00 a gallon. what has happened to make gas be $4.00 a gallon? i know, a war, but we had a war before and this didn't happen.(desert storm)

Larger demand worldwide for oil. China is sucking up ever larger amounts of the worlds oil. Other developing countries are also demanding much more oil now than ever before. When everyone in the world wants what youve got you can name your price for as long as it is getting paid. Worldwide recession will curb demand eventually. Then which ever countries survive the recession will for a little while enjoy cheap fuel. Until the next build/bust cycle begins. This is the opinion of this moron. Still $4.00 a gallon gas sux and we are in for a long hot summer.I can barely justify going to work. Maybe I'd be better off taking food stamps and welfare and staying on my porch until this crap blows over. |
|
This is a good idea in theory. However, if gas is not bought on Friday, people will just buy it on Saturday and the oil companies will still make their money. A better idea might be to not buy or RUN vehicles for a few days. Carpool (if you must), ride bicycles, or walk where you must go or just stay home. Unfortunately staying home will also hurt the small guy. So I just guess we're just going to have to continue to dole out the money until the government ... we'll just have to continue to dole out the money. |
