Ferrellgas accuses fired employee of embezzling $3 million
“We weren't given much information. We're sad to hear about this because we were very interested in student entrepreneurship.”
The founder of a Platte County-based student-mentorship program is accused in a civil lawsuit of embezzling millions from his former employer.
In a petition filed last week, Ferrellgas Inc., an Overland Park-based propane gas company, accuses Platte County resident Scott Beeson of creating fake invoices and pocketing at least $3 million.
Beeson is scheduled to appear Monday in Platte County Circuit Court.
'We conducted an internal audit and discovered that a significant amount of money was allegedly taken from us over a period of several years,' said Scott Brockelmeyer, a company spokesman.

Who is asleep at the wheel at Ferrellgas? How does a company that brags about having the best audit department in the industry allow a single person to steel 3.5 million dollars? The responsibility for this should be on the shoulders of the man at the helm. Is that Jim or Steve? I'm betting that it's Steve.

It's pitiful that some people can be so greedy. Was his six figure income and flexible schedule at Ferrell Gas not enough? Some people could be so lucky. Some people don't hve food or sheter. Were the kids at PY a cover for him. How Pitiful.

I can't imagine how a big company doesn't catch such a mistake. I believe Scott was trying to do good things but got caught up in something that he never should have done. The person I feel sorry for is his son...he is a Senior and graduating, getting ready for college. I'm sure it's been difficult for him trying to save face at school. PCHS is a great place and hopefully all students are treating him well. As far as punishment, a jail cell for a while should be the place.

I read in a paper that the feds went to Nationwide LLC. and was lookin for 100+ trucks that they had paid for and were probably not going to get them cause they in reality, hadn't been orderd nor delivered by Nationwide. And a guy by the name of Karl Snyder was involved also. MY GOD...Were not talkin a, he say she say thing here. Were talkin, paper trail paper trail. It amazes me that someone could be that greedy, and stupid to think, or convince someone else that, "we won't get caught". It takes all kinds, or idiots. And Karl Snyder has been in jail for laundering already. Guess he will be back in jail....Totally.. GREEDY IDIOTS...

Garrett Beeson wrote: What will the punishment be for him???????? First, he owes Farrellgas $3.25 million. I'm betting he blew most of it. The fact there was a quick default judgment says one of two things: 1) He's taking the fall for everyone; or 2) There was no vendor involvement and thus Scott acted alone. I bet he gets at least 5 years after the feds are done with him.
