I wonder what the oil companies are doing about new sources of fuel other than their own?

The supreme court should force Exxon to pay but don't hold your breath. Hopefully the American people are getting fed up with the greed in this country and are ready to do something about it.

I'm a single mom of three young boys making minumim wage and drive a diesel truck in California where right now, diesel is $4.50 a gallon. The truck is three years old, very low milage, but I can't sell it. How do I make it? Every month I sink lower. I'm fighting to find full time work with good wages, but so far, jobs are so tight that the last place I applied to and was interviewed, there were 50 other applicants beside myself. And don't even try to convince me that there is something other than greed driving the big oil companies. I work part time, at minimum wage, for a gas station. I love people. It breaks my heart to see poor, hard working people and struggling college students come in and pay massive amounts of money just so they can try to keep going to work and school. These slime balls who are driving the prices of oil up, just to line their own pockets, and the politicians who keep looking the other way, or are so deeply in the pockets of the oil companies that they won't protect the public, have no conscience. How anyone with any conscience do what they do? How much do they think they need? You can't take it with you and it's all over. And I sure as hell wouldn't want to stand in their place when the judgement for their lack of responsibility to mankind is meeted out. To be sure, they are not going to be greeted by 21 virgins... unless those ladies are holding a cattle prod, some bamboo slivers and a few other select items. |

If it makes sense to penalize the oil companies when they make profits, will it also make sense for the government to bail them out if they have a year when they lose money? Why do we always want to go after those who produce and are successful? Why don't we emulate business leaders instead of athletes and politicians (and I'm not talking about the crooks at Enron). |

If we are going to penalize Exxon for making a profit, are we also going to penalize any other corporation for doing the same thing? How much profit is too much? Who will decide if there is too much profit? What about the huge loss of tax revenue to the Federal Government and State Government? Are you willing to give up paved roads? How about the local police force? The taxes collected pay for lots of stuff you take for granted.
How about we take over OPEC and throw them all out and take their oil? We are wasting thousands of lives in Iraq for a worthless "cause" why not make it worthwhile and kill them all and take over the oil fields? |

Funny, nobody compained much when housing prices went up 100-400%. In fact, the media though it was great. Why is it O.K. for home owners to profit from housing sales but not O.K. for oil companies to do the same from gas sales?
BTW, the record oil company profits are a direct result of the record gas consumption in the country. People also seem to forget that the recent increase in oil prices are, in part, due to the fact that OPEC cut back on oil production earlier this year. However, some people are ignorant of the fact that the gas they buy is a product of oil. |

[QUOTE Or do you eat the food that I continue to provide to America through hard work and honesty despite barely making ends meet because oil corporations are taking my hard earned money and adding it to a bank account of billions of dollars also taken from other hard working americans.
<quoted text>[/QUOTE] And let us not forget the truckers who have to haul it. Those of us who are private haulers are being slaughtered when pay day rolls around. deisel prices are making it difficult to pay costs of living, when every dime we earn, goes right back to the tanks. Think people, if farmers stop planting, and truckers stop hauling... America STOPS ! Period! |
