As I said on a similar thread, the Alaska pipeline crosses over 900 rivers and streams, close to 1,000. Surely one aquifer in Nebraska can be adequately protected.

So the president doesn't have to decide before 11/12, it magically, conveniently (political pandering) needs more study. We could put to the tune of a quarter-million people to work, probably more after completion, but it has to wait a year. Wow !!

As I said, I call bu!!sh!t.

No need for a pipeline. Especially all the way across the US.

I suppose you'd propose we sprinkle the oil with faerie dust and it'll magically be transported to port.

You would use you your fairy dust on a spill to make it magically go away.
Refine the oil in Canada.

So much for American jobs , so much for our balance of payments.

Plus the associated monies circulating through our society from tax base , through schools, jobs, merchants and down to charities.

Oh well , Obama just played to his base killing about 20,000 construction jobs and up to 100,000 energy filed jobs.

Good news, although this only kicks the can down the road till 2013. Time to end corporate influence over our land, and natiionalize any oil pipeline projects, keep ownership in the hands of the people, not the Koch Party Fascists.

What are the costs if it spills in the water systems of American families? We just had a spill in the Gulf and look at the costs.

Lot's of imported oil. Pipeline or not, if we produced more oil here in the U.S., unaffected by OPEC, even if they slowed production, we'd have energy. Furthermore, it would be uninterrupted by whatever or whoever-the-hell happens to be in "spring" mode in the middle-east.

We will never stop importing oil. You do have a good wish though. 3269
