I am not surprised by the lay off at Nielson. I have alredy felt they did not do a good job but now this could create a lot more mistakes with using people who could care less much less be accurate about what we watch. This the first time nor will it be the last by big wigs at the top making all the money sending our jobs out of the country. Look at the auto any other manufacturing jobs that were done here and has left. They took away roof over our heads and food out of our mouths to a person who earns maybe .35 cents an hour or possible a day

From watching what is happening, it seems that the lay offs have ceased, at least for the time being. Corporate Business is not childs play, nor for the foolish or mindless, greedy idiots that think that investors or Big Money Players aren't going to look beyond the paper presentations. They look into a company years prior, some 5 years prior to either taking it over or investing in it. Nielsen was the only game in town, a Prime Silver Shadow Rolls Royce in demand, and stripping it and putting in an old Chev motor, and plastic seats is not going to cut it, call it what you want, it is still a piece of junk. Once they lose their accrediting from E&Y Firm they are done, it is over. I understand the networks and clients are not happy, as their information is incorrect, late or just sloppy. Numbers are being recycled, some are being called a week later for the same reason. Employees are not being given hours, or are sent home early or told to take vacations, so to most this is the writing on the wall to what is yet to come. I have heard good things about DCC newest director Steve Haughton and one has to wonder if he was aware of what he was getting himself into as he is from Texas and is in the process of relocating, and IF I was him, I would only RENT

To all Nielsen drones: if you keep mouthing off all of you will be outsourced ! Why dont all you whiners and complainers just QUIT. Why do you work for a company that you think sucks so much? Now get back to work! And if you think those mentally unbalanced Jericho fans are going to save you - youre as crazy as they are.

Too bad you don't have the discipline to create a proper sentence in English. That is why you losers cannot handle tech support, and that is one of many reasons why you will continue to be a loser.

A veiled threat! We're all going to be outsourced anyway! And when that happens, you'll have to deal with it...because going back to the second post on here on page 1, Nielsen no longer exists! Happy job hunting to you too! Your post is laughable!

BTW, more cuts coming around June 1...they cut a month before the end of a each quarter so they can give you a month to work then your severance. Last meeting I heard they made announcements to the N+2's and above to cut again in June! Hold out for the severance as long as you can! To those peanuters! Thanks for trying anyway. Now, there's extra security everywhere, not to keep people from throwing peanuts, but to make sure no one goes nuts and hurts someone or the building! I hope this makes national news. Of course the reactive Florida Council will try to spin it, but it's too late! Calhoun and Habib - you created this mess, now you sleep in it!

Hello Mitchell! You must be in Pittsburgh today!

Was the Florida Council disbanded at some point? I seem to remember it already being in place when I worked there.
Or maybe I'm thinking of the Brooker Creek Booster Club. So many groups to keep up with...

Drone Master - read back to yourself what you just wrote. Your total lack of respect and distain for the Nielsen employees and TV viewers by calling us names is a clear example of why the employees and clients should demand this management get out! And calling yourself Master???? Slavery was abolished 150 years ago. You just gave us a perfect example of the mentality of the cruel practices of the current Nielsen management.

I have been visiting this forum since I heard about Nielsen-TCS deal. FYI TCS has already recruited many marketing professionals for the Nielsen retail account in Bangalore. The operation is due to begin anytime this month starting with training for a couple of months which would definitely mean work being transitioned from US and Europe Nielsen offices. As far as I know, TCS has come up with a structure where TCS and Nielsen employees team up together to deliver reports to the clients. This is a practise followed by IRI where they have reduced cost and won many Nielsen clients with lower quotation. The TCS retail research pilot team will start operating soon. (No. of TCS new workforce - Approx 120).

More Indians, terrific. I wish I could post a .wav file on this site. You guys got to hear the voice mail I got from TCS Bangaloo. I listened to it 5 times and have no idea what he said, all I heard at the end is the ticket is resolved. TGIF Habib!

I would bet within the year, the American and english speaking basic households and those trying to be recruited for metering will be fed up with trying to understand the accent and disjointed sentences and just hang up! And the clients, they should scream bloody murder at the incorrect ratings! One year - that's it! Europe? Don't know about that one - it's a mixed bag over there. Bottom line - America is slowly being euthenized by greedy Mitchell and his TCS profit-in-his-pockets scheme. All American Brooker Creek employees should just walk out - believe me there are PLENTY of companies that pay much more with great benefits that would be happy to employ Nielsen employees. All you have to do it look - they're right at your fingertips.

Perhaps you just like to spread fear.

For those of you saying that you hope Nielsen's plight will get national media attention - don't worry!! Even if you're not reading about it in the papers and hearing about it on newscasts - the word is getting around. At parties over the last few months (been networking overtime to get out of here)- whenever I say where I work - whether I'm talking to IT or HR people or just some average Joe - everyone immediately mentions the awful mess they heard we have going at Nielsen. The marketing, IT, HR, and corporate worlds are smaller than you think - and their grapevines are well aware of what's happening here. Professionals worth their salt are avoiding jobs here like the plague - and anyone from Nielsen looking for a job doesn't need to give much explanation to the question of why they're looking to leave Nielsen when they're interviewing. During all the phone and face to face interviews, and party and networking small talk - there's always little explanation needed. So don't fear - go seek greener pastures!! The corporate world is waiting for you with open arms. And unless Habib pulls off some miracle, this will be his last gig (there is such a thing as karma). No one in corp America will touch him with a 10 foot pole after this latest fiasco. Hope he's putting away some of those ill gotten gains for a rainy day - cause there's a big storm coming...
