Next Ikon rep.

I have never worked for Ikon but the stories are very prevelent in the industry about their company culture. Here are a couple Disadvantages you will encounter at Ikon
1 No leadership that cares about you and will give away products , resulting in no commision
2 Now you might only have Ricoh products to Sell, a big dissatvantage to the competition who can sell a wide array of manufactures. Remember there is no ONE manufacture who makes the best equipment from top to bottom. so you will be forced to sell what you have to sell.
3. their customer service is horrendous, billing is a nightmare and service is poor to customers that are not improtant to them.(these are all comments from former customers.
4. Just read the comments on any forum from current and former employees and they will enlighten you.

Just a question out there for all the IKON sales representatives, who decided that the commission retention plan IKON offered wasn't worth the paper it was written on...Are you being sued?
IKON is aggressively going after sales reps who decided that Ricoh wasn't where they wanted to be.
Again, it's faulty management decisions to waste thousands and thousands of dollars. I wonder if all the administrative and service staff would be happy to know that there wasn't enough money to pay a simple cost of living increase, but there is an unlimited bank account for attorneys.
Good by IKON - glad to see you go.

Does anyone know the date that shareholders actually received their $17.25 per share? I know an elderly gentleman who owned 10,000 shares. His broker convinced him to sell on October 31st, thus getting his money within a few days. He got $17.23 plus their commission, which was in the thousands since he pays them a percentage per trade. Seems like they ripped him off to me.

Yes -- me and 5 other past IKON employees that have made the jump to sell Canon are being sued in a frivilous lawsuit. A real time waster. And IKON is encouraging people to turn in those thinking of leaving through the "refuse to Lose out Talent" promo -- which is basically a whistle blower promo.

There are many comments about how poorly IKON treats their employees. I'm not sure about other areas, but in the Great Plains area the reps, managers, technitians, and all other employees are excited about the merger between Ricoh and IKON. We are actually hiring 2 more sales reps, and 1 technitian because of our growth. IKON did have some issues with billing back when I started with the company many years ago, but I believe that they finally realized the importance of customer service and got the problems corrected. I used to spend 30% of my day fixing billing issues. Now, I might have one billing issue each quarter that is quickly resolved.

I'm extremely satisfied with the compensation and recognition that I receive working for IKON. We are now the company to work for, and the company customers want to do business with.
Looking at IKON as well

I am being courted by IKON to sell their machines. Is it any different from selling for other office systems? I know nothing about the industry but have 20 years outside sales success. Downsizing has put me on the road for a new sales position.
Did you take the job with IKON? I am considering going to work with them to sell Doc Management/PS? Should I?

I've worked for IKON for 17 years and I love it. Like any company, it's only as good as the people working there. To the IKON employees commenting in a negative way on this board I say this: Work smarter, stay focused on our customers, take pride in what you do and help our company become the best it can be.

IKON IMS side of business is absolutely disgusting. They promote people who are indebted to someone higher up the ladder. Conflict of interest between managers and direct report go on all the time. Nothing is done about it. HR just reports what people say to the other person instead of resolving the issue. IMS is all about pprotecting higher management and promoting people outside the company over someone inside the company. Several times, managers have been allowed to manage a relative, brother or sister. Hopefully, Ricoh will come in and clean IMS up starting at the top. It needs to be done. IMS training and developement program needs to be reevaluated. Internal Employees should be promoted based on length of time, accomplishments, skills and knowledge of the company. Promotions should not be based on how well you look and how much IAM or OM management likes you. IKON has promoted a lot of people into management that should not be there. IMS has the inability to pick reliable managers and to train them properly resulting in wasted time and money. Especially since they are promoted after having started out in the lowest position possible and worked for only a couple of months with the company. IKON IMS heavily favors promoting people who do not know anything about the conpany but might have a certain experience in a skill set that an internal employee does not. The terrible thing is that skill can be learned and often times is simple. IKON IMS often favors promoting people from the low end of the corporate chain versus someone higher up on the corporate chain.

I am amazed. I will be going straight to Xerox. I am tired of these dealers being bought and these multinationals buying the dealers, killing jobs, not improving technology and leaving customers scratching their heads.
We were called by our local Xerox Rep and explained they have a buyout promo package for us based on being Ikon customer with Ricoh machines. We will switch, staying with the reliable name in the industry. I should have never left Xerox years ago, wasn't worth the few dollars savings with the grief we have endured and the constant service price increases, this change cost us more in the long run.
Let me get something straight, you are going to leave IKON and go to XEROX. I have worked for both companies and can tell you that IKON does care more about customers than XEROX. Most of all XEROX technicians are rude and don't know what they are doing. Xerox is still making plastic copiers.

Xerox will never be able to compete in the marketplace like Ricoh has been able to do

I worked for IKON for 15 years and got tired of working smarter, harder and hitting my numbers year after year and seeing my commissions drop.
How does everyone feel now after Ricoh restructured the commission plan...hang on it's only begun.

I understand IKON sometimes would offer free add-ons like EDOX or ECopy or otherwise position term leases for extensions on a customer's entire fleet of copiers without making that intent known to customers, to keep them locked in and extend theri lease terms without their knowledge, to protect against the competition, and even trained employees how to do so. Anyone know anything about that?

If there is anyone out there who has an Ikon CPP 650 or knows about this printer please respond. There was a recall on this printer when they sold it too us and we were not told.It has been a nightmare and I can't get any help from them.I wouldn't buy another product from Ikon if they were the last supplier in the universe.

I didn't want to go to work in this business anyway but had no choice because I couldn't find a job. They play with your pay, commissions, and life constantly. It is all about mind-games here. My boss will tell us to be in the office early in the morning (7AM) to go over quotes or something and when we show up he won't be there. Instead he will be at a meeting at the regional office and just told us that to make sure we come to work. What a douche.
