Wendy Kopp? Really? UVa honors Kopp? While I credit her personally for her intelligence and well intended effort, TFA has transformed into something far more powerful and malevolent than its idealic beginning. It is now the largest teacher training program in the nation. And they give their members a whole 5 weeks top prepare to teach. That's the best model they've come up with. Wow. I would like to think that there are more deserving individuals. I can think of numerous local, state and national figures who have done more for education and as a whole for the community, state and nation then Kopp. Still I congratulate her on the honor. Oh well. Sour Grapes on my part I suppose. I am only a 26 year career teacher. What do I know about education?

Your grapes are REALLY sour. No way TFA can be considered "malevolent," if that's the word you really mean. I hope your students don't sense the bitterness you display. UVA has made a fine choice.(40-year teacher here.)
