SHORTEST SINGLE EVER READY TO HIT THE UK CHARTS

At just 36 seconds in length ‘The Ladies’ Bras’ by Jonny Trunk and Wisbey could make pop history when the August 19th singles chart is announced by being the shortest song ever to enter the UK Singles Chart. Early buyer reaction indicates a Top 40 position is possible already and interest is growing daily.

The driving force behind what has become an unexpected record attempt is award winning broadcaster, Danny Baker on his All Day Breakfast Show podcast. The song which repeats the line,‘The Ladies’ Bras, The Ladies’ Bras, The Ladies’ Knickers and the Ladies’ Bras’ over a jaunty organ backing is painfully catchy. When Baker first previewed the song in July the reaction from ADBS listeners was unprecedented. Some were actually caused physical pain too.

All Day Breakfast Show Producer, Phil Wilding said,“After Danny played Ladies’ Bras we were swamped with emails from listeners asking where they could buy it. The response was phenomenal. We’ve had emails from people accidentally dousing themselves in petrol while dancing to it and husbands who have been beaten up by their wives while singing it unconsciously in front of in-laws. It really is the most reactive 36 seconds of music ever created.”

Facebook Groups and unofficial YouTube videos created by fans in support of The Ladies’ Bras have begun appearing on the Internet in what is becoming the unlikeliest of underground movements.

One fan on Facebook, Paul Hicks said,“The kids gave us the 'Crazy Frog', now its payback time.”

The Ladies’ Bras is released on Monday 13th August but can be ordered today from http://wippit.com/ladiesbras

I'm not in Notting Hill. Why does it say Notting Hill? I'm closer to Nottingham. What will my wife think? She'll think I'm cheating that's what.
Oh dear.

Actually, 'Ladies' Bras' is not an original tune. I think it's actually some incidental music from a 1960's kids TV programme. These guys have just added the lyrics.

I don't think I've ever heard such a smiley, pick-me-up song in years. I want an album of this stuff! Maybe the same song with different subjects.

And Archie, why are you cheating on your lovely wife with that skank in Notting Hill? Is it her knickers and bras?

Check out my other post:

A few weeks ago we sent out a bulletin announcing that under the stewardship of Danny Baker and his All Day Breakfast Show podcast we would be mounting a campaign to Jonny Trunk & Wisbey’s ‘The Ladies Bras’ into the charts as the shortest record ever in the nation’s Hit Parade. It peaked at number 70, creating the record we’d set out to, but then last week Scott Mills picked up on it and this weekend the shortest song ever to chart was at number 27 in the UK Singles Chart. The Ladies’ Bras, at 36 seconds in length is the shortest song ever to appear in the UK Singles Chart.
Following the celebrity endorsement of Lorraine Kelly (singing it to a bemused Sugababes and asking them if they fear being knocked of the number 1 spot by 36 seconds of silliness) and an appearance on BBC News 24 last night Wisbey has decided donate the proceeds to charity, specifically and aptly in the case of a song about bras to Breast Cancer Care.
“I’d like to think this silly secret ditty, exposed almost by accident, could raise more than just a titter. So, I’m giving my portion of the profits to Breast Cancer Care in the hope that someone somewhere may benefit from my smutty utterings. It seems appropriate somehow that Britain’s women should benefit from this saucy seaside song”, said Wisbey.
Its not often that a song becomes a charity record after it is already a hit and this is not only testament to Wisbey’s extraordinary generosity but also to the strength of the song and how it has captures the nation’s imagination. The Ladies’ Bras didn’t start life as a charity record, didn’t have a huge marketing budget like most of the rest of chart and doesn’t even have a video. In fact, fans have gone about making their own videos and posting them to YouTube. The momentous success has taken everyone by surprise, even the creators.
Jonny Trunk says,“To be in the UK Top 40 is quite extraordinary, and listening to the show on Sunday is something I shall never forget. Not for a single moment did I think that the Hit Parade and The Ladies' Bras would ever get acquainted. Just to think, thousands of people of all ages are now singing it all day. Even weird remixes and videos (like the boy wearing pants on his head singing it) have appeared on YouTube.”
The song first saw the light of day on Trunk Records Now We Are Ten sampler. Jonny adds,“In the tradition of all good samplers I decided to add a few exclusive, unissued tracks. The Ladies' Bras had been recorded in the last few moments of a recording session about three years ago, but had never really left my head. It was a track we'd invented while we were in Edinburgh at the Fringe Festival, performing Dirty Fan Male, a cult show all about letters to Page 3 girls. This sampler seemed the perfect opportunity to issue it. Danny Baker, a champion of Dirty Fan Male and all things Wisbey was the next logical step. And as soon as he couldn't stop singing it we knew others would also begin to suffer.”
The mission now is take The Ladies’ Bras into the Top 10 and make it the most useful 36 seconds of music ever, not just the catchiest and most likely to make you smile.
