HI, I am from PA. I checked on the internet under "used mobile homes for sale in PA" and found this treasure. We purchased it from a bank for $6000.. It was in need of interior repairs due to large dogs having no control from owners, but well worth the money!!!

We looked up on the internet for "mobile home movers" and called one about 50 miles from us. They take care of all the road fees and licenses to move it and set it up. They took it off the blocks in the mobile home park andmoved it to our rental lot. We paid a little over $3000 and it was worth it, no worries and the job was done perfectly.

The mover owns a mobile home park, sells mobile homes and moves and sets up others' mobile homes. He thought we got such a good deal he wanted us to sell it to him. lol It is 16 x 84.

If the person is giving you the home because it is too old for the park, you probably won't be able to get it in another one. If you can find a nice piece of ground at a reasonable price to rent or buy you might be able to set it up. You should check with the township supervisors or where you get land/building permits for any info on getting it set up. You might just be getting a not so "free" mobile home you can use. The problem is the homes usually are not up to codes. And also if you get it approved there are a lot of permits, set up rules and more work than you thought this nice "free" gift would cost.

Check it out thoroughly, getting prices, fees, licenses, moving rates/set up fees, footers or foundation, and then if a piece of undeveloped land, remember the water/electric poles/lines that have to go in and more expenses.

I wish you well on this quest, but remember, all free gifts are not so free.

Whew! we just had our 97 singlewide moved over 30 miles in New York State. The reason it was so hard to find someone is because there are so many added safety regulations that the transporters have to deal with. They have to be licensed by the state, insured (your mobile home insurance doesn't cover damage while moving), and get the proper permits
from the Dept. of transportation in order to move on their roads. The guy we finally found was a gem!
But he was 100 miles away! It cost us $3000 plus a generous tip for them to break down the plumbing, jack it up and remove the supporting blocks, attach the hitch, fix 2 axles, put tires on the axles, put safety lights on the back, transport it with 2 guide trucks and a crew of 5 men, get it onto the property and slab (that was a feat, because the pivoting of the axles wasn't tight and it took him 4 careful hours and a special hydraulic tow hitch to move the 66 ft. trailer back and forth, up and down, eight inches at a time in order to get it up the 35 ft. wide driveway, lined with trees!) Then they have to hook up the electric, plumbing, sewer, jack it up, put and level supporting blocks, install huricane tie-downs and remove the tires, safety lights, and hitch. They were worth every dime! We did our own skirting. Wasn't hard at all, as long as you are on a concrete pad. We were living in it in a park and wanted it moved to our own land. It looks better now that it's set right this time!
Wow... any chance you would be willing to divulge this guy's name and how to contact him?!!! Thanx!

For transport permits you need to contact the county or township road commission office to get info of restrictions and requirments on wide load permits. You would also need to check to see if the city roads it would be transported on will require permits also.
Some citys require bonds along with ins. to cover everything. You need to get state highway permits also. Give them all the size, weight, and total length of the load with truck also.
There are some places online that you can pay to get all that info for you if you didnt want to go through it but it would cost alot more.
We are in the Detroit are of MI. and work in and out of state lines. 313 nine 89 8014

Every mobile home is different, so every move has a different price . A round about price for tear down to move on a singlewide is under $1000.00 depending on size and it there are other things needed like awnings or decks. For the truck to come and hook up , transport with permits and drop off is say 4 to $900 range for every 100 miles. For a setup on a single could run around $1500 to $2500.00.
It all depends on what you need done for you.
