There are 26 comments on the El Paso Times story from Oct 18, 2008, titled 'Popular rock' radio station keeps going in a business where fe.... In it, El Paso Times reports that:

Brad Dubow says he is in the ship-building business. That's odd. He's vice president and general manager of hard rock station KLAQ-FM . "Friendships. Relationships," he said by way of explanation.

There aren't too many things in this town that I would say are impressive, but one thing El Paso has and should feel lucky to have is Buzz Adams in the morning. He is hilarious, sharp as a tack, and seems over-talented and under-appreciated for this town. Much man-love to you, Buzz.

I was born and raised in El Paso and I have had the opportunity to live in other cities like Phoenix and now San Antonio. All cities have there so called rock station. Oh ! Dont get me wrong they do play good music but it seems that all new music isn't explored unit much later. I visited El Paso a few months ago and heard a new song that I had never heard before. To my surprise i was Nikki Six's new band. WOW! In San Antonio there a radio station that from time to time talks some smack about El Paso. I guess they found out that EL Paso's Q is better than them. Keep rocking KLAQ!

I'm a rocker from way back and used to listen to XROCK 80 before The Q came along. I won tickets to the Stones concert in Dallas from Magic Mike in 1981. I left El Paso almost nine years ago but listen to The Q every time I get back to El Paso. I loved Big Al Jones and Courtney Nelson's morning show too. Rock on "Q".

it's because of stations like "the q" that I also have been a satellite subscriber for years. The station is so bad that u can almost predict what awful track is coming next. I agree with the post about these losers trying to hold on to the past. I ocasionally surf the dial and can still hear the same music I heard in grade school (18 years ago). Get satellite and get with times! Howard stern, NFL and the most music- real rock! "the q" doesn't rock- satellite rocks!

Well maybe some of us want to remain old school. I like listening to music that I heard during my youth. If you want to listen to Howard Stern's vulgariry, by all means be my guest. To qoute other famous old rockers, "live and let live". BTW, what is your definition of "real rock".

Excellent article. If only the Times would cover other local issues so well. Jobs, for instance, or politics.

I live in Mi, and we have a station much like the Q, similar 'popular' music as described in the article. Thing is we have at least two other rock stations, and 3 or 4 other awesome morning shows.

I dont think its the Q's fault that El Paso radio sucks. They went with a radio format that works and went with it.

El Paso NEEDS variety, the Q would be part of that. If all of a sudden you swapped the Q for the best station in lets say..phoenix or Dallas. You'd probably get sick of only hearing them after a couple years too.

That being said, do they really have to play blue on black by kenny wayne sheppard, alice in chains, STP, etc. as often as they do, seriously.

Steve Crosno....He hosted James Brown in the 60's and some of us went to KELP to see him. Many of us grew up listening to rock with Crosno. He was an institution in El Paso.

The Q bores the SH!T out of me, it's like they play the same freaking songs everyday. That radio station in Las Cruces and that other one from Juarez really kick the Q's azz.

Please, please, please mix it up and play some dang real rock.

If you wan't to listen to old school then listen to 92.3 or 99.1 damn it.
