TheBuzz: BOH and HI Air bring life to symbol

Seems like a pretty cheap way to treat your company's logo. A cardboard cut-out? I doubt you'd see Coke, BMW or McDonalds giving up their company's badge in such a way.

Another step in BOH's goal for the dumbest and least relevant publicly traded bank. Instead of pursuing measures to improve profitability or customer service, BOH chooses to promote loggerhead Peter Ho rather than cutting its bloated management.
The only thing that protects BOH from buyout is the Hawaii Control Shares Act - remove that and we could have a real bank. |

unbelievable. i can't believe there's an article in the newspaper about this. maybe the writers should focus on how hawaiian air is price gouging the locals by charging nearly double the other remaining carriers for flights to the west coast. go is not the enemy. HAWAIIAN IS THE ENEMY.

What a pathetic way to treat customers / potential customers! Dumbing them down to the level of meeting face-to-face with a stupid foam cut-out.
BOH could've used this money to improve its level of banking service as a "person-to-person" bank... but no, it would rather have you get to know a piece of foam. I wonder what moron (or, team of morons) at BOH thought that this would be a brilliant idea?*sigh* |

1 Hawaiian Airlines lost $19 mil this quarter. You call that gouging, or taking steps to survive? Would you prefer to have Hawaiian fold also? And saying that Hawaiian is charging double is not true. There is a difference, depending on the day, but not DOUBLE! |

DAS NOT MY BANK!

I totally agree. Their true colors come out as soon as the chance to rip the people off appears. It's a shame that such a disgraceful company can bear the name "Hawaiian". |

Aren't these the same idiots who came up with the "Thumbs Up Hawaii" Fiasco?

Hawaiian gained millions from the go! settlement, and just reported a sharp rise in passengers since Aloha went away. They are also well aware of the economic situation of most people here and yet they raise fares? Very nice. Too bad they didn't go under, and Aloha stayed solvent.

1 Not only did they raise their standard passenger fares, they're now implementing a $25 fee for your 2nd check-in bag. They're jumping on the bandwagon of several other mainland airlines who have implemented the same baggage fee, claiming that it's due to the rising costs of fuel. What p*sses me off is that Hawaiian says the fee will not apply to First Class passengers. If "fuel costs" were the reason, EVERY PASSENGER who checks-in a second bag should pay the fee, regardless of being coach or first class. Raising ticket fares is one thing, but this new baggage fee is an unjustified slap in the face to its customers. |

1 ANY airline that wants to stay in business, HAS to raise their fares. Have you heard of soaring fuel prices, another airline today is biting the dust. Get real, any surving airline HAS to raise the fare, that does not mean that they are demons!Cheap, below cost fares are GONE! Get over it. |

They are nothing more than price gouging scum. They aren't even very local anymore either. They are trying everything to make a fast buck off of the people. A friend of mine's dad was dying on the big island and they were at the point of giving him his last rites. She called HA to ask if they had any kind of bereavement fares and the person with the thick Filipino accent said no as if they didn't care. At least a local employee would have been a little more caring, but that's what happens when you outsource I guess. Since all the flights were full, she then asked if it would be worth her while to go to the airport and wait, in case a seat becomes available. She was told that HA doesn't do stand by anymore. Like I really believe they're going to let a flight go with an empty seat available. i guess they want a full fare paying passenger and nothing else. I won't be missing HA when they go under too (don't worry, some other airline will replace them). So sad. I used to fly them all the time from the 60's to the 90's. |

Heh. Sorry, I misread the blurb at the top of the page. I thought they were giving away Punani lunches.
Now that would be a great idea that would spark some interest methinks. |
