Not surprising. I left Laurinburg 10 years ago and relocated in Winston Salem and Charlotte area. Scotland county has higher property taxes than either of the two. I worked for G.Pride as my mother did. The environment there was not benefitual to the worker. 15 years or so ago the plant reduce their work force and shipped the production to Mexico.
All in all scotland county is a decent area to raise a family and I may return...but the powers that be in laurinburg will certainly need to stop thinking that high taxes etc will draw larger commerce and job opportunities. My advice fellow citizens is vote all the existing politicians out...
