Magna International workers fear job cuts

Magna came in to shut us down in late August; now we're in our "last chance phase" we're told. Our main problem is we cant make money or even break even at the end of the month and its been that way for a long time. Quite a few customer issues as well.

I wouldn't give the car companies a dime. They are where they are by folding to the greedy unions. The ones who confiscate worker's money to give to the commies. They demand more money and less work and quality. Why pay someone 6 figures for putting on the same damned lug nut all day. That is SUB minimum wage. Because of that we produce plastic CRAP that breaks after 2 miles and we don't honor the warranty. I will NEVER buy an American car ever again. I tried for years and got tired of the lemons and dishonored warranties. I do NOT have that problem with German cars. I make sure they are made 100% outside of the USA. I do not buy repair parts made in the USA. I look for union labels just to make sure I DO NOT buy them. Let the unions die, they are responsible along with the commies for the economy with their false controls on a free market. Let the car companies go tits up in the ditch. Besides, I am sure obammy and his commie friends will pay EVERYONE's mortgage, healthcare, and all those other things he promised.

MAgna is a great company. Every company in the Auto industry is felling the pain of the economy.you should be thankful you have a job.

I know there is a lot of difference between our countries, the biggest being you have national healthcare and we don't but could you answer some of my questions.
I am really glad things work for the workers in Canada and I hope things continue to be good for you. Some day I how you can experience what we have being apart of a union.

i work for a non-union magna plant in southern Ontario. I've been working there for just over 3 years and couldn't be happier. We have a great management team, employees are treated fair and are payed amoung the highest in our industry in our region. As for a union I'd have to disagree
perhaps its different in the states.

Another Magna plant in Ontario ( ONTEGRA ) will be shut down in march 2009 . Total over 400 go home .

first the line workers are doing MORE work than they did 5 years ago as some jobs were put together. there is no lug nut installers that make six figures. actually I wonder where the six figure line workers are as I know none. dont lie here we know better. and then you call six figures SUB minimum??? it was greedy capitolists that ruined our econemy not the cars. this sounds like hitlers speeches when he took power as his first target was commies then capitolists then jews.... face it the fifth reich will not happen

We got announce letter for closing yesterday, the closing will done by 1 June '09 at Rimply. About 500 people will losing job.

Lexamar to expand paintline with moneys from our own budget; no Magna money. Rumor of work coming from other divisions. Still not turning a profit however; waiting to see what the result of the Brownlie visit scheduled for this week is. Lots of temps laid off for month of December effective today.

I work for MYTOX DECOMA - any rumours with MYTOX - THEY HAVE CUT THE THIRD SHIFT AND LAYING OFF.

All the work from RIMPLY and PLYDEX will go to ................ POLYCON and ......... PLASTCOAT MOULDING . They are all DECOMA in Ontario and may be some will go to ......LEXAMAR .

Your MYTOX will be ok . Even now MYTOX only have about 50 employees , and POLYCON will be the DECOMA 'S HEART in future in Otario
