State court reinstates Cipro suit

A state appeals court today reinstated a class action lawsuit accusing Bayer Corp.

I started using Cipro ear drops since having tubes put in my ear drums as a treatment of Meniere's Symdrome. I have since developed a severe case of calcific tendonitis in my right should. This was diagnosed from an x-ray. I have been treated with lidocain and steroid injections. How do I find out if Missouri is part of the class action lawsuit?

In the past 18 months I have been prescribed, and taken, 8 cycles of Cipro for recurring UTI's. I now have ruptured tendons and ligaments in my left elbow, left flank, outer aspect of left foot, right knee and right ankle. I am in constant pain. I have never experienced prior instances of ligament and tendon rupture. Is there a class action suit pending with such complaints as a part of the suit? Is Utah included in the suit?

My wife was on Cipro for appx 10 months for diabetic foot uclers. She then ruptured her achilles tendom and now cannot walk except for short distances with a walker.

I received Cipro for a UTI. I was not aware Cipro causes blackouts. I had allergic reaction to the medication and went to get a different medication. When, I was driving back, I blackouted and did $3000 damage to my vehicle, $3000 to another person's car, and $300 in medical expenses.

My doctor put me on cipro for a bladder infection. I became stiff and could hardly walk.My doctor said it was the combo of zocor and cipro. She now is treating me for fibromyalgia.

Hillary did you find a Utah class action lawsuit to join. I know it has been sometime, but I would still like to know. I've had a ruptured tendon and rotator cuff. Thanks

I took Cipro for 7 days in March for problems that were later diagnosed as being caused by clostridium difficile bacteria. I also take Simvastin. While taking Cipro my right ring finger became very stiff and painfull and went on to develop "trigger finger" while I was on Flagyl a week later. Took the latter to finally fix the c.diff. problems. Haven't been to anyone about the hand problem. I did mention it to my doctor during a c. diff. followup and was told I may need to see ahand surgeon, but that was it. I don't know it the tendon is ruptured but I do know it is quite painful. Has anyone found relief from something other than surgery?

I found 1 law firm which you can easily google who took down my info & said they might call.(I'm in California.) I took Cipro in December of '07 and I have been suffering from tendon ruptures in my left hamstring ever since. I have had severe pain standing, walking, etc. much of the time & after going to physical therapy to address this problem a couple of weeks ago, I somehow injured my left knee. Now, I can hardly walk at times and have chronic pain. Prior to the Cipro, I worked out 5 times a week-- in aerobics classes, with weights or playing squash. Please keep in touch.

Back around '93 I was in need of an antibiotic. The physician gave me a sample 10 day supply. It was enclosed in a card, as they often do. On or about day #6 my ears started to ring; I'd never had such a problem before that. I went to a pharmacist who told me that it was a side effect that would disappear after the 10 day cycle had passed. We, it never did! I'd been raised to avoid lawsuits and so it took me to the last day of the 2 yr. filing limit; on that day I filed. Bayer's slip of paper with the pills showed that ear ringing was, in fact, a possible side effect; it could affect 3% of users. Bayer had the matter thrown from the court. My attorney was useless. To date I continue to suffer not only the ringing but also infections that seem to come because I'm inclined to "fool" with the ears in my attempts to ease the irritation. I was very rude of Bayer to dismiss my complaint, particularly given the fact that their blurb admitted the problem was possible. Further, about 2 years earlier I used one of their veterinarian products to bath my cat, who had fleas. During the bath the cat went into a coma; he lived 3 more days. In that instance Bayer showed concern, which I appreciated. I never took any action against them, I felt that their sincere interest and expressed remorse was enough. Sometimes all that's needed is to say "we're sorry." The ear problem, however, was handled by a different department and the sting of my worthlessness remains with me today. I would like to join a class action suit, if possible. My hearing has diminished noticeably due to the endless ringing. Life can be VERY unfair. One attorney told me that it cost Bayer at least 15,000$ to end my suit. Had they given that to me I likely would have been satisfied.

I have not been able to walk properly since the end of January when I took Cipro eye drops. It has been rough. How do I join a class action suit?

I took Cipro in March as well, and my ring finger on my left hand started as a trigger finger issue, but since then is constantly swollen and disfigured looking. I can NOT bend it but about halfway. If I lay my hand straight...all my fingers lay normal with the exception of THAT finger. The knuckle is raised and will not flatten.

I took Levaquin in April (a form of cipro)because I was on the verge of pneumonia. The very next day, I could not move my arms and my ankles hurt. I thought maybe I had pulled some muscles due to coughing. I finally had to go back to the Dr, in June and was told I have tendonitis. If I don't mow or vacuum or use the trimmers or walk or fold clothes or sweep, the things you HAVE to do in everyday life, they don't hurt so bad, but if I do, I can barely move my arms.

I had to take Cipro twice in the last two months for a bladder infection. I had been exercising, losing weight, feeling great and on my way to becoming a new and better me. After the Cipro ingestion every joint in my body began to ache constantly to the point of getting out of bed was a hardship. Even my wrist ache making it difficult for me to complete job-related task.

Hi, both my achilless are snapped as we speak.Surgeory required on both. I have a match set of fireglass casts and am housebound. I am finding many homeopathic remedies do help alot. I am taking them for tendon healing first, and pain second. Arnica is a must and you can take it internally as well as externally in a creme or gel. I am not a Doctor or Homeopath but I have exprienced great pain relief from them with guess what?(NO SIDE EFFECTS!) speed to heal M.

Considering the fact that I'm not suing anyone...My life "wasn't screwed up" till Dr's started experimenting with drugs to see if they would help my breathing problem. Since Cipro, I am borderline disabled and before Cipro came into my life in 2002, I had a very active lifestyle and now I'm lucky to walk from the chair to the front door with no help. I can't breathe, stand, or sit for very long. I have such ringing in my ears I could put words to the tone. Right now my left rotor cuff is so swollen and sore I could scream and I'm lucky to get 3-4 hrs. sleep without waking in pain. When I eat, it takes me twice as long as anyone else because I have a tendency to gag/choke. So yea, I have a screwed up life now...but before Cipro, I had a very active life Thank You!
