Landair will be lucky to make it over the next year. If not for Scott Niswonger's deep pockets, this boat would be sinking. Depending on the economy in '09, we will see if Niswonger is stupid enough to let Mr. Tweed break his bank.

If you are a driver, this is the sign of a company that will screw you. If you are an employee, you are probably already looking for another job - or too stupid to know you are about to get fired (i.e. all you Knight folks).

if you are a driver, you are probably realizing that you are in a mess. no miles and cut backs to try to keep the doors open. if you work in operations or sales, you probably have been struggling to get out for a few years. new for the knight crew, you all are gone. i know that! the house is about to be cleaned...

Landair is sinking like the Titanic. If you are onboard, you better find another job. The owners are looking to sell - and there aren't too many people looking to purchase a trucking company that is bleeding. These doors will shut soon!

I spent 10 years at Landair and being an ex driver I tried to treat drivers like I wanted to be treated myself. Most of all the drivers they I worked with were good drivers and we was like one BIG family...boy did that change my last 2 years, every day it was look out the knife will get you in the back, could not come in and plan a good weekend without trying to see who was going to stick iot to you next. I finally had to get out as I worked nights 3 nights a week and days on weekends plus every holiday there was and it was taking its toll on my body and when you go and talk to someone about this well you can guess theres the door thanks for 10 years, but since I have quit 4 years ago my body and family life is 100% better and now I can go to Church and live a normal life and boy I am glad that God has helped me thru this as he has watched over me and prepared a better place for me both in this life and the next life to come. AMEN to all who can tell there stories and if you had a reunion of ex employees who used to work at LANDAIR it would probably take NEYLAND Stadium to hold them!

I work in the Greeneville office and am amazed they are still hiring drivers. We have 270 trucks in the fleet and we have about 70-90 per day that we are paying layovers to. If they promised you miles, it is a lie. Landair is struggling financially and things are bad here. I see it from the inside. Look through the blogs and tell me this is a good company. There are a handful of drivers who have been with them for years and run either dedicated or semi-dedicated runs who may do okay. Outside of that, I would advise to look elsewhere.

I worked for Landair for just over a year and the culture there is bad. They have no freight and I was paid layover time and time again. I got to know a few of the dispatchers in Greeneville and they told me they had no freight and everyone there in the office was looking to leave due to the work environment. Needless to say, I was forced to find another job. Seems many others have experinced similar issues.

Landair has a bunch of weak-ass finger pointers in the office. and yes, Lanair is that bad. I was not happy the entire time I worked there and was smart enough to get out with a new job before the economy went south. most people in the office blame the cfo for screwing them out of their money because thats what he does and thats what hes made his career out of. The truth of the matter is that Tweed and Niswonger let him do it!!!!Thats why they hired him. After i learned the nature of the game, i got out. To make your commission, you have to earn it, then you have to fight for it...Sound familiar current landair employees? If you fight for it, you will be gone. Or how about this one- "you can still earn your commission if you make this much more money?" I'll give you one more...We'll gaurentee you X-amount for 30-90 days until you get into commission. but what they're not telling you is that they will find a way to "change" your commission plan. GET OUT!!! YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME AND THERE IS NO FUTURE THERE.. BIG DOGS AND VP'S DONT LAST(in all fairness theres 1 or 2 exceptions)but for the most part...FIND ANOTHER JOB and you will be a happier person.

I got sick and had to go to the hospital at the end of Feburary. My husband asked if he could take a couple of days off while I recovered. Landair told him that he neede to take a "leave", but that was okay. Two days later we got a certified letter from Landair with Cobra papers (which stated that he was laid off due to lack of hours). He deided to file for unemployement; however, we neede a "separation notice" to do so. When we got the separation notice, it stated that he was discharged due to his performance. The next week we recieved in the mail a Safety award and Performance award certificates. A few days later, the unemployement office called and told us that Landair told them that my husband quit. I tried to call Landair to see what is up...they won't return my calls. I have contacted a lawyer and they are ready to handle Landair for us!!! That's the thanks gave my husband for 4 years of outstanding job performance!!!
