Landair gained a reputation in the community as "screwing over" their employees. It was a good place to work years ago, but has really slipped over the last several years. Ask around before considering a job there.

I currenntly work for Landair. I get treated good. The miles aren't an issue because I get guranteed money pulling sonoco stough out of Hartsville,SC. Love my dispatcher, cool guy. I asked him two weeks ago if he could keep me closer to the house because my wife is having a baby. I've been home around noon everyday and still getting my guanteed money. I have no complaints. The people in Greenville were really nice and all the drivers that came through there while I was there didn't say anything negative about the company. Sorry to hear you guys stories, maybe misfortune hasn't hit me yet.

I just quit driving for Landair about two weeks ago. They just couldn't get me the miles I needed or get me home at the time they promised. My dispatcher was cool, but said the company is in a mess. Take the advice and don't drive for Landair.

I am Transportation Manager for a major shipper in the southeast and we booted Landair over a year ago due to service and lack of commitment to our account. In my view, horribly operated company with huge turnover internally. Interesting to see all the negative comments here.

I drove for Landair for about two years and left due to lack of miles. I ran dediacted and they had just lost too much business and tried to move me to over the road. Most of the guys I talked to there were not getting miles, so I left. I did talk to several dispatchers who said they were not happy either.

Looking for a job, don't go to Landair!

I worked there years ago when the San Francisco station had but 3 doors in a small warehouse in South San Francisco. I worked there for about 6 years. At the time, I had seen about 8 station managers come and go with our station constantly growing and no pay raises. We kept working averaging some of the highest pounds per manhour in the company. We still recieved no raises and work just kept increasing. They pay pay the least for large shippers. Go there if you want to be unapreciated.

I presently drive for Landair,I would like to address some issues that has been mentioned. The first thing is they pay from zip code to zip code, therefore the pay miles will be shorter always. Miles per week it varies if your lazy you will get short miles, then it also depends on your fleet manager,my first fleet manager ran the wheels off of the truck,2nd fleet manager was not no good a dirt bag, this new dispatcher will run the wheels off. If you had a problem or are
having a problem contact Greeneville talk to the appropriate people, thats what I did. As for Landair, they are no different than any other company, Swift,JbHUnt,Covenant, all companies are
trying to make cut backs, its sad to say but they want to make more money for themselves, all companies are the same. I quit Landair in 07 came back after a month, they reinstated me just as if I never quit. Due to the second fm I had. Last Year I made $50840.00 for the Year.Thats not so bad now is it.Drivers today want the paycheck, for nothing,(not all, but some). ALL companies promise you the world and gives you the dirt, unless its a union company then they are bound by a contract to up hold they're end. Maybe we all should be come union,as for now drive hard, make as much money as possible and be happy
josh your right the drivers that cry about LANDAIR are the drivers that want to leave out monday at 8 am and be back no-later than 12 pm friday and wonder why they cant get no miles all companys are the same if you cant handle it maybe a factory job is what you need

It may be Goody's causing the issue, but Landair should be able to keep their drivers happy. Lacking freight and relationships with struggling companies such as Goody's is a strong sign of a trucking company that is on the fence. Why so defensive? Sounds like you are still stuck in the Landair prison camp. I work for Landair too and am buying time until I graduate college and get out of the hell hole!

I work at Landair too and we have no freight for our drivers. They have parked several trucks over the last year. We rely on broker freight to move trucks and if things don't change, I look for considerable downsizing. Terrible management structure (mini-Knight).

I drove for Landair for bout five years.I got all the miles i wanted, but had to stay out two or more weeks to get them.Had a couple of small accidents in this time. One of them was listed as curbing a tire.Had not had any accidents in a year,I was called into the office and disquilified because of my safety record.Did not understand why they waited a year to tell me this.

I agree here. Landair treats their folks like shit. They will be the next you will see filing bankruptcy. Loser company. With the credit downturn, they will fall soon.
