Re-cycling is the best tool to greening the supply chain. For eg. Suppose we deliver a mineral water bottle to some customer. Then the customer throws it into a trash. Now here the reverse process starts:reaching from customer to manufacturer to recycle the plastic and then deliver it agin.

Most important issue for supply chains in the future will be going green. Transportation costs will increase with the price of fossil fuels climbing every year. We need to find ways to utilize renewable energy at every possible step in supply chain. Intermodal transportation combined with wide spread use of solar is one solution.
