An exert from the article by Debbie Schlussel in 2001 on that wonderful Georgia contribution to the world Jimmy "Peanut Man" Carter and his "U.N. Ambassador".

His gall is incredible. Talk about disappointments. Remember Carter's foreign policy? The U.S. wore a virtual "kick-me" sign at the United Nations, with Carter's U.N. ambassador, Andrew Young, a willing participant. Carter's blind eye to Japanese automobile dumping was killing America's auto industry, resulting in a recession, mass plant-closings domestically, the Chrysler bailout, and 21 percent inflation. Remember Gucci-garbed Daniel Ortega and the Sandinista Communist totalitarians that ravaged Nicaragua – torturing and murdering its citizens, seizing farms and turning the country into a training ground for PLO and IRA terrorists and Castro's henchmen? We are now giving Nicaragua billions in grants and loans to subsidize its return to democracy after that Carter-imposed fiasco.

Significantly more strife around the world existed when Jimmy Carter left office than when he entered it.

You forgot about carter giving away the Panama Canal. Now, it's run by Red China and they are widening it to accomodate the oil supertankers to get oil from Chavez' Venezuela to China. Andrew Young went on from being Carter's stooge to become the worst racist mouth in Atlanta. So far, he has bad mouthed Jews, Koreans, Jews, whites in general, Jews, Indians, and Jews.

I don't think Andy Young did one GOOD thing for Atlanta. He just turned into a racist and made Atlanta worse. I use to like him, but then he became racist. Why $1.5 million?

Oh, come on! This is a belated April Fool's joke or one of those stupid Western Onion Internet pranks. Whatever, it is in bad taste. Couldn't this money have been funneled to Grady to help pay for indigent care instead?

How many mouths would this have fed? How many people could have received medical treatments for this money? What a waist.

Who was this clown again?
I still remember when Young disallowed the police from arresting prostitutes in Atlanta. He claimed that prostitution was an important source of income for the black community. He didn't specifically condone child prostitution but that hideous crime flourished during Young's time as mayor.
