KKK Threatens Woman After Walmart Incident

I mentioned the story before about Heather Ellis, the young woman who was threatened by the KKK after protesting about her arrest that took place in a Walmart store. The story was quite interesting in that Ellis now faces 15 years in prison for effectively cutting line at a Walmart. The unfortunate events occurred when Ellis was shopping with a cousin in Kennett, Missouri. Heather and her cousin went to separate lines and when her cousin found the shorter line, Heather joined him. Ellis was then accused of cutting line by the person checking out customers, which led to an altercation. When Ellis was asked to leave the store, she argued with the manage rs, which led to the police being called. Ellis was eventually charged with disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting a police officer. Ellis, a college student on her way to medical school, argues that the charges were not appropriate, particularly since she doesn't have a history of this kind of behavior. She now faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted. Ellis has publicly protested the DA's decision to push the case forward, which has led to her receiving threats from the Ku Klux Klan. The African American community is working to help Heather now, as a website has been set up for an online protest and petition fighting to support Heather's case. The question here, from a business standpoint is whether or not Walmart could have done something to avoid this situation. Some people think so.

Its a fact that POLICE and White folks use the Justice System to control and punish Blacks who won't conform to their standards.

Young Blacks should be taught from birth how to Talk to Police when being questioned by them. Police aren't to smart and many are prejudiced. So in order to avoid being falsely charged with 20 charges for one incident you must talk NICE to them.

I don't believe it's just a black thing. The justice system is a money machine. They want you to get caught up in the system and keep you there sucking the life out of you. Even if you don't agree with the law it is what it is and you have to conform or face the consequences. They will go with these multiple charges to get her to plead to one without a fight. Easy payday for the system once fines and fees are applied.

That's weird! I have never had a problem like that in Philly. My major complaint is people of any race who use a credit card to make a minor purchase. I swear, some people MUST be afraid to even carry pocket change.

If I lived in Philly or Chicago I might be afraid to carry pocket change, too. That said I live in an exclusively white community and people sometimes do what has been described here. Hell, I've done it. So what? I don't really know the details of this particular situation, but it certainly doesn't seem like it should have evolved into the shit show it has become. Anyone who claims they have never done this type of thing when going shopping with a friend or relative is probably full of shit.

Regardless of the race....people that cut the line or hold a space for someone else and show up with a cart full of stuff is really tacky and just show you what type of ghetto attitude we have to deal with and by "gehetto" I mean, white, black, hispanic and anyone else that acts like low lofe scum.
