Depending on the alloy used, gold can be of a wide array of colors as was made popular by Black Hills Gold. I'd assume that they were real, Take it to a jeweler that buys gold, they may test it for you for free.

Hi everybody

Have been reading the posts with great interest.

Please please do not try doing destructive tests not unless you wish to ruin the piece.

Take your time study learn your different metals what they do etc your lense is the best thing you can carry with you if hunting. A magnet is also useful. You cannot carry your other instruments with you.

Remember too just because items do not stick to magnets does not mean it is gold/silver.

Research find out what different abbreviations mean on jewellery.

If you do make a mistake and find a gold plated piece of copper check out the stones I have found many a good stone in a copper plated piece.
Which has been worth more than the item, you have not lost.

Take care all

Can gold be real with no stamp on it

Yes, theres a lot of gold out there that was either never marked, marks wore off, and many times I've seen jewelers remove the marks when resizing or repairing. So yes, LOTS of unmarked gold out there. Many artisans simply did not historically mark their work.
Hope this answers your question

Hannah, Your BFL mark likely is the makers mark for BLACK FOREST LTD jewelry manufacturer.
Hope this is helpful.

Yes gold can be real with no 10K,14K,18K,24K. I forget off the top of my head what the exact numbers are for each.
Example: Silver uses a number stamp 925
Gold has a numbering stamping as well.
I suggest Google searching the number stamping for Gold.
Bring your gold to a jeweler and have them test it for its purity.

I have a small jewelry and relic and coin store. I developed a way to pretest jewelery that comes
in before I do an acid test. With a Garrett GtI
2500 metal detector I pass the object. This is important since so many falsely labeled gold and silver is now appearing. A score of 3.5 or 4
sometimes 3 means the object has significant gold.
The only problem is that a heavy gold filled piece will mark that. Any item that registers 3 3.5or 4
i acid test. Any silver item that marks 8 or above means at least 75% silver. Plated items all come in
at 4.5 to 7.5 as does copper or brass. Titanium marks like silver or 8 to 12(the highest rating).
I recently had a confusing piece. It was obviously electroplated gold because it was pitted I figured it was over copper. I passed it over thje metal detector and it rated strong silver sterling or coin in the old days i would have given it back without testing. Also so much that now looks like silver is white gold or platinum. all that marks 3 3.5 or 4 like gold.
