What? A new business is going to open without a handout from the city? How can this be?

"British Aerospace Systems" is not the name of this corporation. BAE Systems does not use the company name quoted in this article. Also, there is no "Technology Solutions & Services" operating group within BAE Systems - from the corporations's website, the Pittsfield location is part of the "BAE Systems Products Group." The Eagle needs to issue a correction. That being said, BAE Systems is a great company to work for, and I'm excited to see their presence in my hometown. If I ever had to move back home, I'd apply for a job immediately.

I'll give it a year before they re-locate the employees to BAE in NH or more likely MD. Whatever it is they do in a "virtual office" means a lot of travel and overhead cost and most companies especially the way the economy is at this current time cut overhead, especially DOD companies. As much as I would like to see this operation grow, I don't see it happening, sorry.

To BAE Employee in NH. You are correct about BAE Systems but wrong about Technology Solutions and Services. We are a Line of Business in the Customer Solutions Operating Group. The products group is a seperate operation in Pittsfield. To EX-GD Engineer. Technology Solutions and Services has over 100 offices world wide. No plans to open this one just to close it.

Not really They (BAE( has ben doing this for a while now. I think the virtual office is the business model for the future. Who says travele cost have to be high? More and more compnaines are using online meetings. Technology can help with those cost. If they are only hiring 15 engineers then that is nt much of threat. but..... The future is here and GD better notice or a brafd and butter business will be threatened. [3rd time trying to post this - hoping it's the charm!]
To Observer: Thanks for the correction.[I discovered my own error soon after posting but could not follow-up right away.] I'm hopeful that this office will grow and be successful - will be on the lookout for more news.
