Why should SkyWi be surprised? And I wouldn't blame anyone for not trusting them anymore. I don't like QWest at all, but I understand their actions. If you owe someone money, and then file a lawsuit against them for a non-regulated service, there is no reason to act surprised when they turn you off for a near $2M unpaid bill.

I'm not surprised at all. Skywi has a history of non payment, poor service and disgruntled employees. Years of bad service and being kicked off radio towers in Pelican Bay Texas for non payment. There is even a website called skywisucks.com They are and have always been sheisters. The PRC just let them have a new lease on life.. because some police & fire depts have their service.

Pay your bills skywi just like the rest of do. If you lost or lose customers, it is because you do not run your business right. Stop being childish and take responsibility for what happened.

SkyWi was actually founded by Don Levy living in an apartment in Palo Alto California. He was a biker & sold his Harley Davidson to start the company. Levy has since transferred ownership to Allen Witters of Las Vegas New Mexico. Witters is currently the largest shareholder responsible for SkyWi performance.
Allen Witters has so far escaped responsibility for skywi decisions.
Witters says (according to Linkedin) says his education is from "Hard Knocks U"
His publicly listed address is Allen Witters x505x 454x9620 Las Vegas, Las Vegas, NM 87701

I work for New Mexico Legal Aid, a statewide non-profit organization which provides free civil legal services to indigent New Mexicans. We are STILL DOWN and have no idea how much longer we will be paralyzed by this stupid act. Our clients are poor and desperate. Why is no one in the news mentioning the fact that New Mexico Legal Aid is unable to serve our clients because of this???

Why should anyone trust Skywi as they sure didn't advise their customers of the situation!

Maybe you should have a different internet and telephone provider. I am assuming your organization had other options as it doesn't sound like Skywi has a very good reputation.

How dare Mr Leach act like this is a Qwest problem.
How dare the PRC to act like this is a Qwest problem
Any New Mexico Public Service unit has an OBLIGATION TO THE PUBLIC to choose service carriers that are RELIABLE. They old saying we all grew up with comes to mind "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR"
Lesson to all Public Service units DO YOUR HOMEWORK
and cheapest is not always the best.
To any Residental Customer that SKYWI has put out of service, I do hope your service is restored soon. I also hope you do go looking for a new dialtone provider.

It's just a shame that ZiaNet and OCIP have been performing decently, and ZiaNet has been in operation since 1994 with the best ISP reputation in the state.

Additionally, with VOIP technology things like this do happen so you shouldn't be completely taken off guard, this was one of the risks you should have been aware of when you signed up.

Though I have no love for Qwest it looks like they were in the right here, although they should have notified their customers that pay for their DSL lines through Qwest directly. Skywi KNEW this disconnect was coming in November (not the week of Christmas as Skywi would like you to think) and failed to notify its customers, and more importantly, pay its bill. Instead they decided to sue Qwest. Smart, real smart.

They got a saying down in Texas. If you don't pay your bill and you loose your service, well then: Boo Hoo Buckaroo. Seems ludicrous to me that anyone, especially SkiWi, should be taking pot shots at a provider like Qwest who delivered services in good faith then removed them because the bill wasn't paid. Qwest is not your sugar-daddy.

somebody really likes Qwest, they overcharged about $5.5 million from Zianet, OneConnectIP, and when SkyWi bought them this was not disclosed. Qwest would not negotiate so they got sued by Jack Leach, current CEO of SkyWi, for credits, and then when it was found out that 10-12 other ISP had been put out of business by them, in a similar fashion by offering deep discount wholesale services to themselves but not to their wholesale clients that became a Anti-Trust case. They turned off all circuits when there was a lapse in a restraining order against qwest when the case was moved from state to federal court. Qwest to put pressure on the company to drop the anti-trust case counter-sued SkyWi and also Sued Allen Witters personally. Who was a Director on the Board, he resigned soon after this lawsuit from Qwest.

All of these cases were mutually settled by all parties, but, eventually due to the lack of revenue forced SkyWi into bankruptcy protection by the Founder Chairman and CEO Don Levy, who is also the largest shareholder.

SkyWi got trapped with disclosure issues from the sellers, fighting a company like Qwest, and a loss of revenue from having Qwest be the largest supplier.

SkyWi had paid all of its bills to Qwest until they would not negotiate.

I do know that this cost Mr. Witters a few million dollars since he had guaranteed financing for SkyWi and the purchase of OneConnect and ZiaNet.

I hope Mr. Witters does not find this blog, he will be hiring me again for defamation. People should not confuse what a Company does and what a person does as the same.
