I am truly sick of reading about all the mess this little town gets into. Whatever happened to the good old days when Council got along, staff was honest, smart & seemed to truly care about what happened here (remember City Manager Sheryl Lindsay who a new Council ran out of town just for their own ego's sake?). Hindsight being 20/20, not so smart a decision, eh?

Sheryl Lindsay was an idiot from the get go and had no clue on how to manage anything....All she did was follow the clueless fire chief at the time (Robert Nelson) and at the end was rumered to have had an relationship with him.

And at the same time terminated people for no good reason and who new more than her! when the smoke cleared and the all the law suit settlements it was quite a chunk of change not to mention the fact that all the part time employee's were able to work more than a 1000 hours a years which opened up another can of worms for the city and all that hasnt been setteled yet! Now shes in a po dunk town in Georgia ready to screw that up i hear...like the rest of the places she has worked they get wind of her background like the the city of dana point did and dump her.

So what are the views of the people in LHH regarding the Interim City Manager who appears to become the City Manager?

Yeah or Ney? Interested in opinions.

I heard at the Avocado Festival that she supports our never in town loser fire chief. So much like the three council members that more than likely do not stand a chance for re-election, I reluctantly have to go with the "She must go" camp. To bad, she comes across as a very honest and caring woman.

So where has the "loser" fire chief been. Is he so busy with other activities that he can't be there to run the Fire Dept.?

All I know is the "chief" (used loosely) has the most cushy job I have ever seen----4 days/wk/10 hours a day....$100 Grand/year. And hates our community to boot.

If she supports him, she has bought into a bag of lies that could turn out to be her demise. She should open her eyes if that is true.

Is she aware how much he bashes the community and it's residents which he is paid to protect?

He has been on vacation, lots of it. Hopefully looking for another job. That would be a huge benefit if he leaves. I am uncertain about her; but time will tell, I guess. Interested in other opinions.

Four finalists left in search for new Rialto fire chief

10:00 PM PDT on Thursday, May 29, 2008

By MARY BENDER
The Press-Enterprise

A dozen applicants from California and Oregon were interviewed this month for the job of chief of the Rialto Fire Department, and a screening panel has narrowed the field to four finalists.

The winning candidate will succeed Chief Steve Wells, who will retire in June after 33 years with the department.

Once the panel completes background checks on the finalists, it will send its hiring recommendation to City Administrator Henry Garcia. The nominee also will be presented to the Rialto City Council, probably in mid-June, Baca said.

The city's job posting said the fire chief's job will pay up to $173,292 per year. Candidates came from Orange County, San Diego, the Central Valley, the Bay Area, Oregon and within the Rialto Fire Department, Baca said. The applicants' names are kept confidential.

The Rialto Fire Department has four fire stations and about 72 sworn personnel.

"The biggest issue that's facing a new chief is dealing with the past policies and practices of Chief Wells, and building a good relationship with the troops," Ammons said.

The rank-and-file, he said, would prefer that the city hire someone from outside the department as chief.

LHHFD Chief Neilson makes the final 3 canadates in Rialo FD. But the Rialto Firefighters are digging up a lot of dirt on him!

Rialto did away with the top 3 candidates and is gonna fly the job application again for fire chief. Apparently the background investigations didn't turn out so well. Rialto just hired Chief Ballard from Alhambra and West Covina (Interim) to be the interim chief of Rialto until the city finds a new full time chief. Sorry LLHFD, looks like your stuck with Neilson a little while longer.

You mean he made top 3? Amazing. But he can't fool even Rialto.

He is probably happy, would actually have to work somewhere else.
