I watched Glen Beck on CNN or HN whatever station he is on and he is a refreshing breath of fresh air. Basically, stop putting oil in the reserves and release 50 to 60 million barrels starting now, start drilling in the off shore oil fields currently off limits for enviromental reasons now, start up Anwar (2000 acre usage out of 20,000,000)now, it'll be ready to pump in 2-3 years, work on using more coal (est at over 100 year supply) and implementing/enhancing the coal to liquid energy technology, build several more refineries, Enhance neculear energy usage. In other words start using what is readily available to us without relying on importing and work up an alternative energy policy (solar, organic, bio, wind)that would be available in 10-20 years.
Exactly right Turd, Glenn Beck is worth watching when it comes down to digging up the truth as to what is happening in the world to our energy needs and economy. He will scare the c rap out of you but it is the truth.

I assume that you are talking about ANWR and its not no mans land. Its a National Wild Refuge, meaning its OUR land, the taxpayers land and the taxpayers oppose drilling there 55-45%.
Not a small number, in fact its a majority.
At this rate that number is bound to change.

Since I went through the '73 recession, I remember going to the store and not finding any sugar. This recession that we're not supposd to be in will be much worse. I suggest stocking up on sugar, oil, powered milk,(if you can afford it even now), and flour. We're only in the begginning because it won't be too long before the chickens come home to roost when people can't pay their credit cards. Then the real clincher will be when the independant truckers strike--this parade to the White House was just a warm-up. If that happens, the shelves will be empty in 3 days. I guess I'm the voice of doom, but I'd rather know the ugly side so I can be prepared.

Unfortunately, you are probably right. All we need is for the truckers to turn the key off and the spiral will go rampant.

We must as a country become united in the common cause to find and to use alternative fuel, we need to get away from our high demand and dependency of foreign oil.
We need wind, and solar energy, also more nuclear energy plants, just look at France. We cannot continue to use over 60% of the worlds energy when we are less then 40% of the worlds population. We need to look within our-self for the answers, maybe we need to reconsider our views on natural resources and allow some new exploration in Alaska. I just don't know, except we need to conserve more and the government needs to become a leader in this movement, not a contributor.
God Bless America.

Yup, brace yourself for the next trip to the grocery store! We have to pay up for all that food being transported as well.

Hmmm. My husband is going on nights soon... maybe it's time to go down to one vehicle for a while. I'm tired of being Ben Dover at the gas pump.(thanks, Hurley for the correct spelling) I think with me staying home most of the time we could get by with one car. Not going to be much choice I think.
LMAO, always happy to help someone with spelling LOL. I also hear that "Ben Dover" is becoming a very popular new name for babies.

Alternative energy for vehicles has been around for longer than I can remember. It's not being utilized because there is still money to be made on oil. All it would take is somebody with the guts to just plain implement it and you would see oil prices plunging. Ain't gonna happen in our life time, no matter how much they keep saying we're runnin out of oil.
I couldn't agree more. All this talk about reducing demand is just a bunch of B.S.. The oil wells will have to run dry before this country will make any change. One thing I've learned is " After all is said an done more will be said than done".

Actually I have been stocking up on food for a while. It's been a bit of a habit since we don't know when the next layoff will happen. I feel kind of silly sometimes, but I think that I'd rather be prepared and feel silly than be unprepared and be desperate.

I don't believe society will actually collaspe--not for awhile yet. Someone will take over that will bring the whole world together, either through the European Union or something like that. We're already in a fractured one world governmental idea. Things will seem to be good, but the undercurrent will not.
There is talk about making the United States, Canada and Mexico a unified country. Then you have the American dollar which will never be strong again--this is when the Euro will be the currency of choice. It's a changing world and the common people like us will be the pawns to pay for it.

Globalization.... One World Government. The UN or an organization similar running things. Probably won't happen with all the dictatorships still in existance but..........
I can envision the USA cowtowing to the UN soon say in Jan 2009,since it is apparent that so many US citizens are feeling guilty because we have so much and 3rd world nations have so little, we should be doing so much more like distributing our great wealth to benefit the less fortunate. These folks I will call, Green Tree Hugging Bleeding Heart Liberals. You know, like, Bill Gates, Ted Turner, Warren Buffet, George Sorros(sp), Barbara Streisand, Sean Penn, Alec Baldwin, Randi Rhoades, Obama, etc etc etc. CHANGE is on the horizon.

Thank you Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney for your wonderful leadership! Oh that's right you are both in the oil business....Hmmmmm and getting out of office soon. This should certainly pad your retirement. Good luck with that wedding on Saturday Mr. Bush where you are having a limestone cross alter built for your daughter when the rest of us are trying to figure out how we are going to feed our families and put fuel in the tanks to continue to try to go to work while the companies we work for are trying to figure out how to stay open.

Turd, you are exactly correct. The writing IS on the wall and most everyone can see it but are too busy scrambling with their own problems/needs. Few people, tho, actually know what the writing actually means. So knowing what is really going on doesn't arm us with enough to change any directiion of it since we're not blue-bloods like the Bilderbergers or Rockefellers. So what is a person to do?

Then they came for the Socialists and the Trade Unionists,

Then they came for the Jews,

And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak out for me."

If you do not learn from history you will be damned to repeat it.

Do you really think the Canadians would go for that? I think the last thing they would want is to be part of our monetary system, our wars and our politics. I think they are happy and proud to be up there enjoying life while we go around trying to police the world.

I speak out like a voice crying out in the wilderness because I know there is a remnant out there who will listen. I considered joining the anti-NAU and at lest giving money to it if I had it, but, I don't want to endanger my family with my paranoia about Big Brother. So I feel like I can aptly point to the monster in the closet, but I have no practical solutions. I know that there will come a time--real soon--when we will ALL have to make a choice, whether to abandon our beliefs in order to feed our families or face the consequences, which I feel I am ready to do. I know this is getting away from the oil issue, but since the manipulatiion of the oil "crisis" is purely a smoke-screen for something more sinister.
