It is great to see such a great company take over and do something good. As a Farmers client this is good news because the more homes and cars a company insures the lower the rates should be, I just hope the quality of claims and Agent services will stay the same. I would hate to not have a personal Agent.

"Farmers takes great pride in being a customer-focused, growth-oriented organization, and this acquisition represents the perfect strategic fit," Woudstra said.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Could they push the sale through sooner? 21st Century Insurance no longer does their job. They're employees know the company is going down, and they've been ignoring the customers that they still have. We're in the middle of a claim and we leave messages for our claims rep, but we don't get our calls returned. We plan on changing companies as soon as our claim is closed, maybe now we won't need to do that.

I have been with 20th Century, 21st Century, AIG then back to 21st Century for 20+ years. I can and will save $600 per year going with either AAA or Mercury insurance.
Bye, bye Switzerland!

This is comic.
.
Farmers, which is known for the highest priced policies and the best customer service takes over 21st Century, previously known for the best priced policies and the worse customer service. The only problem is that the PROFIT from Farmers winds up in Switzerland, not in the United States. I'm going to stay with Mercury for now, thanks.

YEAH...

Farmers money stays in California !!! The Farmers group of companies based out of LA is the Home Office. So they pay all the state, local and federal taxes. The profits get put back into the company here. True Zurich is the parent company, but the Farmers Insurance Group has many companies under that name. And farmers has over 15000 agents in the USA who all have staff, claims reps and so on, so more good jobs and that leads to spending, and growth in the market. Who cares if it is owend buy Zurich, people are not buying GM over honda or Toyoda. We live in a world economy. Im just glad AIG is going away !!!

I know someone that is a customer rep for 21st century and have heard many horror stories about some of the customers that call in and how nasty they can be. Also the reps are on a timer, they have to answer and take care of the caller within a certain time frame, otherwise they get in trouble. So that may be why the customer service is crappy. It always starts at the top.

I am really sorry that you are having a hard time at 21st, the only excuse for the downhill trend is, AIG loves to bean count and it left no time to do a good job as we did before we were taken over and all they wanted was numbers not service

I can only hope Zurich/ Farmers does an audit to see how the company operates now, it isn't the TRUE 21st Century

Farmers and Zurich are simply getting in line to become the next AIG and claim they have become so large that they must be bailed out by the government. In the meantime, they collect their profits, move it offshore and make every effort to deny claims.

AIG did not fire the claims reps, AIG let go 7% of thier staff in all offices, mostly customer service. I was one of thoes people let go after working for the company for over 10 years. So feel lucky that you still have a job and quite complaining about the company that pays you. Grow up.

Totally false information. I answered phones for AIG for many years and have called every name in the book by customers, never did I have a time restraint. Ever think that people that complain too much just might need to get a life and a new job if they hate it so much.

Again totally false information. Customer canceled thier policies because of all the false reporting by the media. Never once did they say that the insurance companies in AIG are Safe, it was only the financial companies. Even Obama put down AIG, gee I wonder how he expects the company to pay back the LOAN if he keeps talking negative about it, people will cancel and the company will go bankrupt. If that happnes the Government never gets paid back. People have no common sence....wake up.
