ok, so we're getting tickets for bbq? Should I be worried about the grill in my backyard? The lack of common sense in the world is amazing...

The article says he was ticketed for using his vacant lot. I'm guessing that the photo was taken after that at a location the regulaters found to be acceptable.

I remember reading something to the effect that it's not what goes into your mouth that defiles you--but what comes out!

I hope they throw the book at him.

Imagine having someone roasting a juicy, mounth-watering pig in his backyard and you have to SMELL it for DAYS - then, don't GET TO EAT ANY! Disgusting!

He should AT LEAST be forced to 'level the playing field by having a neighborhood roast once a year. Then, his neighbors wouldn't have anything to complain about.

If you look at the picture, it appears he's barbecuing inside his garage. You think that was one of the code violations?
If you had read the story, it said they wrote the violation for bbqing in a field. Just like a child to look at the pictures without reading the story. Fortunately, the picture never came up with the story for me.

Are you blind idiot? The picture shows it all. I'm very sure this dude is not giving away free plates. Why can't the owner of this pig roasting event open a resturant where it is way more safer and he would not have to worry about being cited.
I guess that's what happens in the hood!
Try reading the article! It clearly states that the violation was written after a story about him cooking for a church in a "VACANT LOT" was shown on the local news. The artcile ( and the picture with the article) that we are responding to, was written and taken after the code violations was written for BBQing in a "VACANT LOT". Try engaging your brain before you comment. Also, if your trace your lineage, you will most likely find that your ancestors ate a lot of what you are saying is disgusting. Where do you think the beef, chicken, or fish is coming from. If you see where these items are processed, you would be really disgusted. Do you realize that cattle farmers raising beef by stale molded bread from the bread companies to feed to thier cattle? The mold actually help thier digestive tracks. Besides, what do you think penicillin is, MOLD!

Why bring up THE BBQ joint of South Florida. Tom Jenkins BBQ is where everyone in Fort Lauderdale goes to.
It is the best BBQ in South Florida i didnt say anything bad about jenkins, but Georiga pig pork is just as good. its been there since 1963, davie blvd and 441
I agree with you, the Georgia Pig has some of the best bbq sandwiches in S.FLA. But they have been there since 1953 not '63. I grew up eating at the Pig. Must say can't find any better In my opinion! Others may dissagree but that is thier choice!

Sounds like yet another petty little official looking for its "five seconds of shame". I find it a shame that the petty little politicians in todays world can't solve the problems that its citizens have to contend with, but can always stick their noses into something that is none of their business.

Please leave this ridiculous story as it is. Pork is disgusting to me....end of story!

My ancestors and I are two completely different people.
Eat your pork and pig feet all you want, it is your life and I really don't care how you live it. Never have I once posted encouraging people not to eat pork, I just stated my opinion about a dirty animal. I've made my opinion based on past experiences and facts.

Only racist xenophobic pig-haters whine about the ticketing of a cannibalistic freak who is guilty of hate crimes against the pigs of the world. Someone should roast this pig-killer.

I'm trying to tell you that you are making comments about a picture that just shows the guy the story is referencing to. The story had nothing to do with him BBQing in his garage. By just looking at the picture you are going out of the context of the story. I am sorry if I brought your mistake to your attention. I'm real sorry that you have a problem with accepting constructive criticism. That shows just a little of an inferiority complex. As far as pigs being dirty little animals, that is your opinion, and you are fully entitled to it. Just because someone likes something that you don't does not make them "idiots" or "filthy". Personnally, the nevue (spelling?) rich like escargo (snails). I think that snails are disgusting and slimey, but there must be something to it if all those people like it. I will keep an open mind and most likely try it one day before I make any firm decision on wether I like it or not. But, that will be my opinion, not anyone else's, and I will not frown upon them or call them names just because they like it and I don't. Another good example is frog legs, I know a lot of people who like them, I tried them, but don't like them. If you look back over the ages, we didn't have the rampant amount of cancer and things like that back then. The big difference, in my opinion is the amount of insecticides and fertilizers that they put on vegatables, and feed livestock ( ie. cows, chickens, farm raised fish). That is what is causing a great amount of the increases in health problems today, not eating pork.

Sorry there, Fan Forum; but while I support the standards you espouse, your issue around greater health hazards is pure "hog"wash.

In 1900, the average American lived to be 47 years old; in other countries, even less. Cancer, the disease you choose to address, is most often a disease of old age. Stated very simply, we now live long enough - a 72 + year average - to contract more of them. A matter of greater exposure, nothing more.

We agree about cleaning up the environment and removing poisons that we create from it, but let's focus on the issue at hand.

They guy was conducting a business out of his garage and that is the only thing he was cited for.

Your backyard barbecue is safe!

Yeah like Americans dont eat Racoon, Apposum, Squirrel, Alligator, Frog legs, Rattle snake etc. Give me a break, your people have eaten all kinds of crap since they invaded this land. And lets not mention all the crap that is sold at fast food joints or in those fabolous American TV dinners. Go chew on celery stick, you bimbo.
"I'd rather eat a HEALTHY dry turkey or any other meat than a disgusting human eating pig. You people wonder why you don't live to see an old age.
Pigs are the most dirty animal to eat ever. I find roasting a pig in a garage very ghetto and unsanitary but of course you hispanics don't care. Right?"
That's really funny because I'm white, middle-to-upper class and I've participated in several pig roasts. I think they're great. So, you can find it ghetto or disgusting all you want, but you just sound ignorant. And, I'm not sure what you're eating but there's not much out there that isn't disgusting in some shape or form.
